Excited to share that StrainX Bioworks has raised $13 million, marking the largest fundraises in India in the synthetic biology and precision fermentation space. 🚀
This milestone is not just about capital — it is a strong validation of the belief that India can build globally relevant, frontier biotechnology companies.
When we started StrainX, we believed that biology would become one of the most important technology platforms of this century — transforming food, nutrition, health, beauty, personal care, and several industries beyond that.
Over the last few years, we have been quietly building one of India’s pioneering synthetic biology and precision fermentation platforms with the ambition of positioning India as a serious global player in the future of biotechnology and biomanufacturing.
What makes this journey even more meaningful is that we are building in one of the most scientifically challenging and capital-intensive areas of deeptech, while moving with a level of speed, execution, and capital efficiency that very few companies globally have demonstrated at this stage.
This funding will help us accelerate commercialization, significantly scale our precision fermentation capabilities, strengthen our R&D and manufacturing infrastructure, and continue building world-class biotechnology products from India for global markets.
We are deeply grateful to our incredible investors for believing in our long-term vision and supporting us on this journey:
Leo Capital (Rajul Garg, Raeeza Tameez, Dinesh Singh, Ravi Srivastava)
PrimeVP (Brij Bhushan, Shripati Acharya, Amit Somani, Sanjay Swamy)
Good Startup (Gautam Godhwani, Neha Poddar, Jayesh Parekh)
Sparrow Capital (Yash Jain, Aakash Goyal, Darshit Vora)
Sun Icon Ventures (Saloni Jain, Darshan Jain)
DHOLAKIA VENTURES (Dravya Dholakia)
Nitin Saluja Raghav Verma Pranshu Chugh Sitaram Agarwal Vikas Mohan Rajeev Ved
Most importantly, thank you to the entire StrainX team. Everything we are building today is a result of the resilience, scientific rigor, ownership, ambition, and intensity shown by this team every single day. Vineet Thakar Dr. Zia Fatma, PhD Vinod Jain HIMANI SHARMA
We genuinely believe India has the opportunity to become a major force in the future of synthetic biology and biomanufacturing globally — and we are excited to contribute toward building that future.
The next decade in biology is going to be extraordinary.
And we are just getting started.
