What does open source maintenance actually look like once a project starts to scale? In this Open Source Friday stream, Ayushman Bhattacharya shares how Pollinations.ai built the systems behind a fast-growing open source AI project. We’ll dig into contributor workflows, paid quests, AI-assisted PR review, app submission pipelines, model curation, and what maintainers really spend their day doing.

I'm speaking at GitHub Month of Maintainers 2026 for pollinations.ai on May 31st 2026 hosted at GDG JIS University Online Virtual Meet! The selected talk: "How to Be the Contributor Maintainers Actually Want, Lessons from Pollinations.ai" RSVP:- https://lnkd.in/gXNgq_YG I went from submitting an integrated project to becoming a maintainer at pollinations.ai. Thus on May 31st I'm sharing exactly what worked and how! and also what I see go wrong every day in our PR queue in the recent times. Topics: what maintainers actually look at before your code, the 5-minute pre-flight checklist that beats 80% of contributors, why "show don't ask" beats "can I be a maintainer?", and why most AI-generated PRs get closed on sight. 30 minutes. Practical. No fluff. Huge thanks to Thomas H. for the opportunity that started all of this, and to Andrea Griffiths for featuring community voices during Maintainer Month.

Massive congratulations to Sourana Ray for clearing out Google Student Ambassador from the GDG community 💯 Looking forward to awesome collaborations and events! ❤️
A few months ago, I was just a girl sitting in her college room, scrolling through opportunities, wondering if she was enough to apply. But the manifestation plays the game.🤞🏻 Today, I'm a Google Student Ambassador 2026. 💙 And I genuinely still can't believe I'm typing that. This didn't come easy. Between balancing college, internships, content creation, and everything life throws at you quietly — there were so many moments I almost talked myself out of applying. "You're too busy." "Someone more qualified will get it." "Maybe next year." But I applied anyway. And somehow, Google said yes. 🎉 _Thank you for this opportunity Google Student Ambassadors (India) ,Google Student Ambassador Program X MCE 💗🧿 #GoogleStudentAmbassador #GSA2026 #Google #Gemini #CampusLeader #StudentLife #NewChapter #Leadership #Grateful

We have hit the GitHub Maintainer Network! 💯❤️ With more inspiring individuals in connection and with Ayushman Bhattacharya we are looking forward for more powerful events! ❤️
Excited to join the GitHub Maintainers Advisory Network with Myceli AI. 🔥 Still feels a bit surreal writing that. A couple of years ago I was treating GitHub like a fancy Google Drive for my college projects. Today I'm part of a global network of people who keep open source running ❤️ This doesn't happen alone. Heartfelt thanks to Abigail Cabunoc Mayes for sending out the invite to GitHub open-source-maintainers community .Huge shoutout to Thomas H. & Elliot Fouchy from the pollinations.ai team for trusting a college student from remote Kolkata to be a maintainer. Special thanks to Abby Cabunoc Mayes for inviting me ❤️. That one invitation changed how I think about code, community and showing up for work that isn't yours 💯 What the maintainers network means to me: a room full of people who understand what it's like to review PRs at 2 AM, say no to good ideas because they don't fit the project, and quietly keep the software the world depends on from falling apart (sometimes I give up too 🤣) If you're a contributor wondering whether you belong in spaces like this, you do. Find a project you actually use. Open small PRs. Read the codebase. Be patient with maintainers because they're patient with you. Eventually the responsibility shifts and you keep going. #OpenSource #GitHubMaintainers #MaintainerMonth2026 #Pollinations #CommunityOverCode

We had a very short contest on the best suggestive HLD (primitive) for URL Shortening after the tech-talk by our system design mentor Nandini Verma. Following this we had an awesome submission made by Karan Ray to us which we produce here. We will implement modifications to this work and make it scaled prod on the edge for common API based usage! Thank you Karan Ray for the submission and Nandini Verma for hosting such a session!
