On the sidelines of recent #SAPSAPPHIRE2026 event in Orlando, I had a wonderful opportunity to interact with Varun Thamba, Head of Business AI, SAP APAC According to Varun,“India is both an enabler and an exemplar. It enables the world through talent and innovation, while also becoming a lighthouse for enterprise AI adoption. India is more like a fulcrum for all our AI delivery and development for the world.” The discussion highlighted APAC's rapid AI adoption, driven by the region's recent customer base and the fast-growing SME segment. AI is seen as a leveler. Across APAC, AI is rapidly moving from experimentation to everyday business operations, reshaping finance, supply chains, manufacturing, and customer engagement. SAP's AI vision includes making AI accessible, integrating it into core processes, and collaborating with the government. Challenges include managing expectations and cultural resistance. The future focuses on autonomous, intelligent, and bottleneck-free business processes, aiming for seamless AI integration.
