About us

Established in 1993, DAG is an art company that spans a gamut of verticals that includes museums, art galleries, exhibitions, publishing, archives, knowledge-based lineups, as well as programmes for the specially-abled and sight-impaired. With galleries in New Delhi, Mumbai and New York, DAG has done seminal work in promoting 20th Century Indian Art globally. The definitive collection represents the expanse of Indian art practice over the 20th century, covering periods, styles, themes and artistic concerns. In January 2019 and in partnership with the Archaeological Survey of India, DAG pioneered India’s first public–private collaboration in the arts space with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating Drishyakala art museum in the precincts of Red Fort, New Delhi—a UNESCO world heritage monument.

    Just 2 days left to visit 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐫, 𝐉𝐨𝐦𝐢 𝐓𝐚𝐫: 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, JNU. As part of its continued engagement with collaborative curatorial and research-led initiatives, DAG supports the students of Modernism and Critical Revisions, Batch of 2026 (School of Arts and Aesthetics, JNU) in presenting this pop-up exhibition revisiting the Tebhaga movement and its continued resonance today. Drawing from the collections of DAG, the P. C. Joshi Archive and the School of Arts and Aesthetics, the exhibition brings together reproductions of works by Chittaprosad and Somnath Hore, protest songs from the IPTA oeuvre, oral histories of women involved in Tebhaga, while tracing how histories of peasant resistance continue to echo through contemporary student politics, protest cultures, and questions of memory, representation and solidarity.     We’re glad to be back here—returning with renewed focus. Over the past years, DAG has continued to build conversations through exhibitions, scholarly research, publications, outreach programmes, institutional collaborations and much more. Early this year in February 2026, this sustained commitment was recognised at the first edition of NDTV Masterstroke Art Awards with two distinctions: Gallery of the Year and Art Book of the Year for Madhvi Parekh: Early Drawings by Madhvi Parekh. We thank NDTV for this important initiative and the distinguished jury for this honour.
