  • 🔬 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 Cellebrite just dropped one of the most significant updates in digital forensics history — and every forensic professional, law enforcement officer, and criminology student needs to know about it. Here's what's new: 📱 iOS 26 & iPhone 17 Access — The most encrypted Apple devices ever made are now forensically accessible for lawfully sanctioned investigations. 🛡️ Safeguard Mode — A game-changing field tool that bypasses device inactivity timers, so investigators can secure evidence BEFORE a phone auto-locks at a crime scene. Think of it as the forensic equivalent of a paramedic stabilizing a patient before transport. 🚁 Drone Forensics — With drone-related crime on the rise, Cellebrite can now extract flight logs, GPS artifacts, and video data from unmanned aerial systems — right at the point of collection. ☁️ Corellium on Google Cloud — Virtual device forensics now available at cloud scale, expanding to automakers, enterprises, and IoT sectors. Fact that puts this in perspective: 75% of devices arriving at North American forensic labs are locked. This release is a direct answer to that crisis. I've written a detailed breakdown of every feature, the background context, and what this means for aspiring forensic professionals — on my blog Budding Forensic Expert. 🔗 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: https://lnkd.in/gcjeGsmj #DigitalForensics #Cellebrite #MobileForensics #DroneForensics #ForensicScience #CyberSecurity #LawEnforcement #iPhoneForensics #iOS26 #BuddingForensicExpert

French legislators are actively debating whether investigators should be allowed to access U.S.-based genealogy DNA databases like GEDmatch to solve cold cases that have remained unsolved for decades. This is the same technique that cracked the Golden State Killer case in 2018 — after 40 years of dead ends. In my latest post on Budding Forensic Expert, I break down: 🔬 What Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) actually is — step by step ⚖️ Why France's Bioethics Law makes this uniquely complicated 🗂️ How France's FNAEG database compares to U.S. systems 🌍 How the rest of Europe is handling the same dilemma 🚨 The real bioethical risks — including a case of wrongful identification This isn't just news. It's a glimpse into the future of forensic casework — and the ethical boundaries we must navigate as the next generation of forensic professionals. 📖 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/gRsBDKsJ #ForensicScience #DNAForensics #InvestigativeGeneticGenealogy #ColdCases #Bioethics #BuddingForensicExpert #ForensicStudents #GoldenStateKiller #GEDmatch #FranceLaw #ForensicGenetics #CriminalJustice

  • 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 Forensic science is meant to be the most objective voice in the justice system. But what happens when that voice itself is compromised? From Punjab’s forensic labs to Karnataka’s courtrooms, recent cases reveal a troubling pattern — evidence manipulation, broken chains of custody, and systemic vulnerabilities that directly impact convictions. In this article, I map documented cases across India and examine what courts are now saying about forensic integrity. This isn’t just about wrongful convictions. It’s about whether truth can survive the system meant to protect it. 🔗𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬: https://lnkd.in/gKCC2WGB #ForensicScience #CriminalJustice #Law #India #Evidence #FSL #LegalSystem

  • 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚: 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 Goa has officially readied a brand-new, fully equipped Forensic Science Laboratory at Verna — and it's set to change how criminal investigations are conducted in India. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed the lab will be inaugurated within days, marking the outcome of 5 years of sustained investment in Goa's forensic infrastructure. Here's why this matters: ✅ Faster turnaround — from months to days ✅ Reduces India's massive forensic case backlog ✅ Supports the new BNSS mandate for forensic examination in serious offences ✅ Covers DNA profiling, toxicology, cyber forensics, trace evidence & more ✅ Goa becomes the first state to fully implement India's three new criminal laws For us as forensic science students and professionals — this is not just news. This is our future taking shape. 📖 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞: 👉 https://lnkd.in/g2KwhQ4y #ForensicScience #India #Goa #BNSS #CriminalJustice #DNAForensics #ScientificPolicing #ForensicLab #BuddingForensicExpert

  • 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐯𝐬. 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 The real picture in 2026 is far more interesting. India just committed ₹30,000 crore to build a national forensic lab network. Every single police station is now online. The world's ONLY dedicated forensic university has 14 campuses — including one in Uganda. NAFIS, India's new fingerprint database, already solved 80 criminal cases in Gujarat in 9 months. And yet — no national DNA database. 40% of state lab posts vacant. No independent forensic regulator. That's the honest story. Progress that deserves recognition. Gaps that demand urgency. I broke it all down in a detailed, data-backed analysis comparing India's forensic science ecosystem with the USA, UK, and EU — covering infrastructure, legal frameworks, technology, education, and the road ahead. 📖 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/gjt343Tf Would love to hear from forensic professionals, legal practitioners, and policy folks — what's the one reform you think India needs most urgently? #ForensicScience #India #CriminalJustice #LegalReform #PublicPolicy #NFSU #DataDriven

  • 🚨 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 “𝐈𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬” — 𝐔𝐊’𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐦 On 17 February 2026, the UK's House of Lords Science and Technology Committee published one of the most damning assessments of forensic science provision in recent history. The verdict? A "national scandal in the making." Here's what the report revealed: 🔴 20,000+ digital devices stuck in a backlog — unanalysed, justice delayed 🔴 30,000 prosecutions collapsed between 2020–2024 due to forensic failures 🔴 Over 80% of external forensic services controlled by a single private company 🔴 £71.5 million+ wasted in taxpayer money from collapsed cases 🔴 Specialist skills like fibre & footprint analysis quietly disappearing 🔴 Defence forensic experts underfunded — "equality of arms" at risk Perhaps most alarming: experts have warned that "miscarriages of justice are INEVITABLE" if urgent reforms are not implemented. The Peter Sullivan case — a man wrongly imprisoned for 38 years, exonerated in 2025 — is a stark reminder of what's at stake when forensic systems fail. For those of us in forensic science, criminal justice, or law — this report demands our attention. The call for a National Institute for Forensic Science is not just a policy proposal. It is a lifeline for the integrity of evidence, the independence of science, and the future of justice. 📖𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞: 👉 https://lnkd.in/giNU9Q8P Read it. Share it. Why does this matter? 📌 Delhi's lone FSL in Rohini was handling 3,200+ cases/month — up from just 1,200 earlier. 📌 Under the new BNSS law, forensic examination is now mandatory for all serious offences (7+ years punishment). 📌 Crime scene visits have surged to 80 sites/day across the capital. The new RFSL will: ✅ Reduce forensic case backlogs ✅ Speed up evidence analysis for South Delhi police ✅ Complement Delhi's 6 existing mobile forensic units ✅ Support faster justice delivery in courts This isn't just a new lab — it's part of India's larger ₹1,471 crore forensic modernisation push under Union Budget 2026–27, with a vision to build a nationwide network of forensic labs. Evidence over assumption. Science over speculation. Speed for accountability. 👇𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/gdhqDkH9 #ForensicScience #Delhi #ScientificPolicing #DelhiBudget2026 #CriminalJustice #BNSS #LawEnforcement #India

𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒 𝑎 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑇𝑢𝑏𝑒 𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑜. India has 500+ colleges offering forensic science degrees. It has zero regulatory bodies governing forensic professionals. Zero universities with a mandatory ethics oath. While we celebrate the boom in forensic education — nobody is asking the harder question: What happens when forensic knowledge falls into the wrong hands — shared freely by students chasing followers? I've written a detailed article on why India urgently needs: → A National Forensic Science Ethics Regulatory Body → A mandatory Oath Ceremony (like MBBS) for forensic graduates → Compulsory ethics education at every university → Clear guidelines on what forensic students can & cannot share online Forensic science without ethics is not just an academic problem. It is a criminal justice problem. A national security problem. A human rights problem. 📖 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/gP-P5UaT If you're in forensic science, law, education, or policy — this concerns you.
