The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the The State Bank of Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 5 May 2026 to cooperate on financial innovation and digital payments, with a key focus on enabling cross-border QR code-based merchant payments between the two countries. The MoU was signed by the Deputy Governors of both central banks and received Union Cabinet approval. It covers information sharing on emerging market trends, regulatory frameworks, digital payment standards and the development of payment system connectivity. The agreement is designed to make cross-border transactions between India and Vietnam more efficient, transparent and cost-effective, with charges displayed upfront and payments processed in real time. Beyond payments, the MoU is expected to facilitate greater trade and tourism between the two countries and open up export opportunities for Indian businesses. The deal builds on India’s growing push to expand its cross-border digital payments network. QR code-based payment linkages have already been established with several countries, and the Vietnam tie-up adds another node to that expanding fintech infrastructure. #RBI #DigitalPayments #IndiaVietnam #Fintech #CrossBorderPayments

26 named industrial AI deployments. Three years. One conference stage. Nuclear reactor safety. ISRO on space technology. GalaxEye on the world's first hybrid imaging satellite. Rolls-Royce on aviation trust. Alstom on safer railways. Mindgrove designing AI chips. Quanfluence and IISc on quantum. Skylark Drones on agentic AI fleets. SUN Mobility on EV infrastructure at scale. Fluence India on grid storage. None of these are pilots. They are production deployments described on stage by the people building them. Read across the grid and the unifying signal is sovereignty. Unlike the finance arc, where global captives led early, the industrial AI story has been dominated from the start by Indian institutions, Indian startups, and Indian public-sector science. ISRO, HAL, IISc, the nuclear research establishment, GalaxEye, Mindgrove, Quanfluence, Skylark. Industrial AI is where India's sovereign technology ambition is most visible. And the Cypher stage has been documenting it in plain sight for three years. The full map, the three-phase arc, and the eight-domain breakdown: https://lnkd.in/gk-jSQyZ

SoftBank Group Corp. founder Masayoshi Son has announced a €45 billion investment in AI infrastructure across France, describing it as the biggest of its kind in Europe so far. The Japanese conglomerate will build data centres in the northern Hauts-de-France region delivering 3.1 GW of capacity, with three sites including one in Dunkirk expected to come online by 2031. Additional sites could push the total planned investment to €75 billion. French engineering company Schneider Electric will be a key partner, equipping the sites with its modules. State-owned nuclear energy giant EDF is also part of the deal, handing over one of its former power plants to be converted into a data centre. Son told La Tribune du Dimanche that France being a producer and exporter of energy is “absolutely decisive for investments in AI infrastructure.” The announcement is set to be formally made at the annual Choose France business conference on Monday. SoftBank’s AI spending extends well beyond France, with the company having invested over $30 billion in OpenAI for roughly an 11% stake. #SoftBank #AIInfrastructure #France #MasayoshiSon #ChooseFrance Source: Reuters

Western Union, UBS, Southwest Airlines, The HEINEKEN Company, Regeneron and Zurich Insurance are among the global giants setting up shop in India, and it is no longer just Bengaluru doing the heavy lifting. Hyderabad has turned into the breakout GCC destination of 2026, pulling in a wave of new capability centres across banking, aviation, healthcare, logistics and deep tech in a matter of months. The shift is structural. Companies are pulling work in-house, building their own centres and taking direct ownership of their technology stacks rather than routing it through third-party vendors. Modern GCCs now run on a two-in-a-box leadership model, where product, AI and engineering heads in India are shaping decisions, not just executing them. Hyderabad today hosts over 450 GCCs employing more than 1.35 lakh professionals. HITEC City, Gachibowli and the Financial District are now competing directly with Bengaluru’s established corridors, and the next wave of entrants is already lining up. In today's world, AI can generate a song, clone a voice, and mimic a style. But can it actually create something it has never felt, dreamed, or lived through? Vasu Dixit, frontman of Swarathma, and Joel Sakkari , music producer and artist, join Mohit Pandey, Senior Journalist & Editorial Partnerships Lead at AIM, on What's The Point's recent episode for one of the most unfiltered conversations about AI and human creativity you will hear this year. From generating a Swarathma-style song live on AI to the environmental cost of every prompt you type, the conversation goes far beyond music and into territory every creative professional needs to hear. One bit that makes you think deeply about the influence of AI in a skilled craft was the one where Vasu talks about Mohammed Rafi's voice being cloned, and what it means when artists have to start copyrighting their own voices to survive.
