We’ve just published monedula-metrics-reporter 🚀 It’s an open-source Kafka MetricsReporter plugin that exports Kafka metrics natively via OpenTelemetry OTLP — without the JMX exporter hop, fragile regex mappings, or dashboard “No Data” surprises. The library was created together with Michał Matłoka and is now available on GitHub. In the blog post, I explain why Kafka metrics are harder than they should be, how Kafka’s two internal metrics systems work, and how the reporter solves this by supporting both Kafka metric registries in one plugin. Komodor VP of Product, Aviv Shukron was recently interviewed on KubeFM about Kubernetes autoscaling solutions, where he shared his perspective on the current landscape of scaling tools. We discussed the various options available today, from traditional open-source solutions like Cluster Autoscaler to newer tools like Karpenter, as well as commercial offerings like Spot.io. Aviv emphasized that efficiency should be the ultimate deciding factor when choosing between these solutions. Based on experience, Aviv highlighted how Karpenter performs as well as commercial solutions while offering a more dynamic approach to scaling and enabling proactive decision-making. Aviv notes that Karpenter has become his preferred choice for Kubernetes auto-scaling implementations.

👋 Meet Altug, Senior Frontend Developer at deltaflare As a Senior Frontend Developer, Altug plays a very essential role in shaping the user experience across Phoenix Cloud, Phoenix Edge, and Phoenix Support. His work starts with creating wireframes to map out how a feature should look and feel, before bringing those designs to life in the interface itself. Meet the team building Othello. Alon Niv is Head of Frontend Engineering at Othello. He said he's "never worked on something where you can feel the impact this fast. Every build ships straight into real sales calls." Before joining us, Alon was a Principal Engineer at Palo Alto Networks and a Software Architect at AccessiBe. He came to Othello because the feedback loop is brutal in the best way: the code he writes on Monday is in front of an enterprise account executive on Tuesday, and we know within hours whether it changed the outcome of a real conversation. Most engineers spend their careers building features that disappear into roadmaps. Alon ships features in the AM so that they show up on a sales call later in the afternoon.

AI hiring in Israel is changing faster than most teams realize. I see how the market is already punishing teams that build features AI will commoditize anyway. I mapped what’s actually happening, including real salary benchmarks in Ukraine and Poland, as well. In the last few months, almost every second conversation sounds like - “We don’t just need developers. We need people who understand how to build with AI and what AI will make obsolete next.” In Israel, tech employment grew by only 1.3% in 2025, while R&D roles actually declined by 3.2%, while software productivity rose by 6.6%. Companies are trying to do more with fewer people and AI is a big reason why. At the same time, Israeli high-tech raised more than $3 billion in Q1 2026, up 34% YoY, with much of that capital going into AI and cybersecurity. That’s why hiring today is no longer just about building faster - it’s about knowing what not to build (funny, right 😅), understanding what will be commoditized and making product decisions with AI in mind. I'm surprised that, while layoffs in Israeli tech have risen, only 5% of companies said AI was a significant reason. This tells us something important! AI isn’t just replacing people, it’s changing which kinds of teams and roles still make sense. That’s exactly why I mapped this out in this carousel below. If you are planning hires in the next 6 months, this is worth checking before you finalize the profile. And the real question is if you're hiring to build the next version of your product or just trying to keep the current one alive?
