For years, travel competed on price. And price will always matter. But as AI makes discovery and booking faster and easier, competitive advantage is beginning to shift downstream, to what happens after the booking. Two shifts are driving that change. The first is a traveler expectation reset. Travelers increasingly expect the same instant, low-effort resolution they experience everywhere else. The second is that servicing quality is moving into the decision layer. Reliability, disruption handling, and reputation are becoming more visible as Gen AI incorporates reviews and reputation signals into results, enables more granular questions, and makes servicing quality instantly queryable.
