Incredible to see how many Irish businesses are using AI to innovate and scale. Our European publication, FORWARD, features two superb examples of this. We highlight how Smyths Toys Superstores utilised AI to reduce time needed on training by half, and how Digital Gait Labs is ingeniously turning smartphones into clinical mobility labs. These stories, from Adam Sexton and Aidan Boran, are a testament to what is achievable when innovation is applied with purpose. Ireland has always been a nation of innovators. Now, the practical application of AI presents an extraordinary opportunity for our economy, with projections suggesting generative AI could add €45 billion to Ireland’s GDP within the next decade. I invite you to read more on this opportunity in the full issue: https://lnkd.in/eB3vPVDM #Google #AI #Innovation #Ireland

“Revolutionising Patient Care: AI, Digital Health & Ireland’s Digital for Care 2030 Vision.” Thank you to Irish Medical Times for the opportunity to speak on this inspiring panel, brilliantly chaired by Ronan Killeen. #PanelHighlights 💡AI adoption needs more than technology it takes change management, training, and trust. 💡Patients and users must be involved at every stage from concept to design to implementation to ensure usability, trust, and impact. 💡 Ethics, evidence, and sustainability must guide innovation It was a privilege to share some successes from digital health projects I have been, and am, involved in from #RemoteMonitoring of heart failure 💜 patients during COVID using #POCUS and patientMpower , reducing readmissions, increasing patients’ confidence in self-care, and enabling timely titration of GDMT at a time when patient contact was restricted, to community-based cardiac prevention screening using Eko Health AI stethoscopes, HeartSciences (NASDAQ:HSCS) MyoVista® AI-ECG, Cushla Health, VentriJect VO₂max, POCUS Butterfly Network, Inc., GE HealthCare #Vscan. These community programmes help empower participants with knowledge of their cardiometabolic health, detect early cardiac, metabolic, and valvular issues, and provide personalised advice or referral to specialist care as needed. Honoured to highlight the work of Global Cardiac Alliance, improving paediatric cardiac care in LMICs, and our collaboration using AI stethoscopes and POCUS in remote African clinics for triage and prevention. Vision Vs Reality: The MyoVista® Wavelet ECG provides a standard ECG while using AI to detect early signs of heart disease, including how the heart relaxes (diastolic function). With continued validation, diverse data, and seamless integration, it could identify types of heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary disease, and cardiomyopathies long before symptoms appear or changes are visible on a traditional ECG transforming cardiology by cutting waiting lists, detecting disease earlier, and guiding smarter care. Let’s make prevention as important as treatment and ensure it’s accessible to everyone, regardless of postcode or income. Digital tools can help us detect earlier, intervene sooner, and keep people well before symptoms, before damage, before disease. #DigitalHealth #AIinHealthcare #Innovation #HealthEquity #PreventionFirst #savingtinyhearts #CVDPrevention Andy Webber Eamonn Costello Jon Robinson Richard Egan Jason Bellet William Novick Peter Weimersheimer Peter Sogaard Martin Curley

A huge milestone for the Invest in Women Taskforce and one that feels personal 👇🏻 The first deployment from our funding pool has landed: BGF has invested in CWC Group… CWC is a remarkable, purpose-led care business founded by sisters-in-law Monica Byrne and Imelda McGrady, and now run by Monica’s daughters, delivering high-quality care across Northern Ireland for over 40 years. This is exactly why the Taskforce - with over £580m in commitments made to our funding pool in the last year - was created: to get more capital flowing to female-led businesses and investors across the UK. Businesses like CWC are hiding in plain sight - leaders in their field, deeply embedded in their communities, but too often overlooked by mainstream investment. It’s why BGF’s £300m commitment to the IWT matters. It’s a signal to the market that change is not only possible, it’s happening. Let’s be clear - this is just the start. Last year, all-female-founded businesses in Northern Ireland received just 2% of the nation’s equity funding, compared to 78% for all-male teams. That trend has been going in the wrong direction for far too long. We set out to create a generational shift in how capital is allocated, and I’m happy to see that the shift is starting to happen. This is the first of many investments to come. Now, we need more institutions to step up, back women in business, and share in the returns of a more inclusive economy. The opportunities are there - you just have to be willing to see them.

People in SMEs across Ireland are worried. and for good reason. The tariffs announced by the US today are a gut punch for many of them. The full impact? Still unclear. Yes, the cost of doing business with our US partners is increasing. But before we resign ourselves to traditional means of pivoting and cost cutting, consider this: SMEs on SustainabilityExamples.com are saving north of €4.5 million+ per year by: 💰 Investing in clean energy; 💹 Backing climate tech; 🌎 Implementing supply chain efficiencies; ♻ Cutting waste and more. These aren’t just feel-good green initiatives—they’re business-critical strategies in a world of rising costs and political uncertainty. Now is the time to get innovative. To control our controllables. To turn adversity into an opportunity for smarter, leaner, more resilient and profitable businesses. ♻️ Repost this to help your network. Want to see real-world examples of how Irish SMEs are doing this? 👉 https://lnkd.in/eWj_7h8F

𝘾𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙄 𝙎𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨? 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙄𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝙄𝙨 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙩 𝘾𝙖𝙣 We explored this profound question and so much more in a fascinating conversation with Donal O'Shea, whose company Deciphex is revolutionising healthcare from its Irish headquarters. In our interview, O'Shea revealed how his rapidly scaling healthtech venture is transforming medical diagnostics worldwide, with AI solutions that now impact hundreds of thousands of patients annually. Their sophisticated algorithms directly address the critical global pathologist shortage, particularly in regions like Sub-Saharan Africa where diagnostic capabilities are severely limited. What distinguishes this venture is its enhancement-first philosophy. Rather than seeking to replace medical professionals, their AI systems augment pathologists' capabilities through specialised training on robust clinical datasets, dramatically improving diagnostic speed and precision while preserving essential human expertise. Perhaps most compelling for investors and entrepreneurs is O'Shea's blueprint for global expansion from Ireland. With established success in the UK & US , his insights offer valuable guidance for European startups with international ambitions. The company's internal evolution provides equally valuable lessons. O'Shea candidly discussed how organisational reinvention at key growth stages proved essential for continued scaling—a critical perspective for startup leaders navigating similar trajectories. As digital healthcare transformation accelerates globally, this Irish success story demonstrates how thoughtfully deployed AI can simultaneously solve pressing healthcare challenges, save lives, and build substantial enterprise value. Could this Irish innovation represent the future of healthcare delivery worldwide, fundamentally changing how we diagnose and treat disease—and if so, what might this mean for patients, practitioners, and healthcare systems globally? #AIIreland #Podcast #AIinHealthcare #DigitalPathology #HealthTech #Innovation #IrishTech #Entrepreneurship #GlobalBusiness #Pathology #MarkKelly #DonalOShea
