Versatile Packaging is the leading supplier of equipment in Ireland & the UK for Modified Atmosphere Packaging and Weigh, Fill & Seal applications. Versatile Packaging was formed in 1998 with the vision: “to maintain versatility and innovation, ensuring that our packaging solutions continue to evolve and surpass the rapid ever-changing needs of our customers.” Continuing developments in the packaging industry call for constant scrutiny. We see new packaging materials replacing traditional ones. Ultimately, a package may become a product’s differential advantage or at least a significant part of it. Keeping food fresh, safe and appealing is the ultimate goal of any food manufacturer. At Versatile Packaging we have an extensive food production background which gives us a passion for researching and developing new innovative processes and products. Recent developments have promoted greater attention to food packaging and the potential to extend the shelf life of food products has many advantages from producer, all the way to consumer. Extending the Shelf Life of food products means there is less food wastage, logistics are easier (long distance shipment, less frequent supplies etc.), and it also contributes to product safety and product image. Our research partnership with UCC means that we may be able to offer existing and new customers a new food packaging concept. Extending Shelf Life for food products will also have an impact on the environment by reducing food wastage.

Versatile Packaging & Silverstream Packaging has partnered with Klöckner Pentaplast and retailer Newell Stores Dungannon & Coalisland, to launch the first kp Infinity Top Seal food to go packaging solution in Ireland. The family-owned supermarket chain, which provides around 10,000 hot meals each week through its deli counters, has made history by becoming the first retailer in Ireland to implement the fully recyclable Infinity Top Seal packaging system. This innovative solution serves as an alternative to the recently banned single-use EPS (polystyrene) packaging. It features EPP-based (polypropylene) trays paired with a high-performance sealing film, resulting in a secure, consumer-friendly, and tamper-evident package that preserves food quality while emphasizing recyclability. Crafted to merge recyclability with an enhanced consumer experience, this solution boasts excellent thermal properties, moisture and alkali resistance to avert leaks, and microwave-safe features for added convenience. Its EPP-based design ensures that, once it reaches the end of its life, it can be recycled through standard PP waste streams.
