Smart Dublin were delighted to attend this year’s Dublin Tech Summit, where our very own Regional Manager, Alan Murphy, spoke on a panel called ‘Smart Thinking, Smart Cities’. Joining Alan on the panel was Paddy Flynn (Google), Alice Charles (Arup), Phil Barnes (Geotab). The panel discussed how AI, integrated platforms, and climate-aligned strategies are making cities smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable, unlocking opportunities in traffic, energy, public safety, and urban services, while separating reality from hype. - Alan highlighted the value of public–private partnerships in unlocking better data and the need to invest in technology where it matters most. Great to see a highly engaged and interactive group at yesterday’s workshop exploring how Dublin City Council is using drone technology to support public services. From emergency response and infrastructure inspections to heritage, conservation, and environmental monitoring, the session highlighted the wide-ranging potential of drones in an urban setting. Designed as a highly interactive experience, participants took part in practical activities to map where drones could be used across Dublin, explored real examples currently in use, and gained insight into drone regulations in Ireland. A very engaging and collaborative session. This session, Reimagining Cities through Digital Twins, brought together practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to explore how digital twins can support smarter, more inclusive, and data-driven decision-making for Dublin.
