  • Fáilte Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way Champions Programme workshop was held today at the Radisson Blu Hotel Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. The workshop, developed by Fáilte Ireland, supports frontline businesses engaging with visitors to enhance their customer service, accessibility awareness and local destination knowledge. It brought together a wide range of industry professionals from across Donegal, including taxi drivers, hospitality providers, community groups and festival organisers. The programme aims to equip those who interact directly with visitors with the knowledge and confidence to share authentic local recommendations. By helping visitors discover more of what the area has to offer, the initiative encourages longer stays and increased spending in the local economy. Fáilte Ireland’s Champions Programme supports those on the frontline of tourism in Donegal to play an active role in shaping memorable visitor experiences. By sharing their local insight and recommendations, they help visitors uncover more of the destination and make the most of their time there. #Donegal #ChampionsProgramme #accessibility #visitorexperience #localeconomy #customerservice

  • Fáilte Ireland, in partnership with the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, has launched a new online learning module to support the planning and delivery of safe, responsible and sustainable outdoor activity events across Ireland. Outdoor activity events play an important role in connecting people with Ireland’s landscapes and communities, while also enhancing the visitor experience. This course supports organisers in creating events that are enjoyable for participants, respectful of place, and positively experienced by local communities and visitors alike. The interactive module brings the Guidelines for Organising Outdoor Activity Events to life, supporting their practical application in planning and delivering events. The guidelines were developed through Comhairle na Tuaithe as part of Embracing Ireland’s Outdoors: The National Outdoor Recreation Strategy 2023-2027. Suitable for both new and experienced organisers, it applies to a wide range of activities including walking, cycling, trail running, swimming and more. • Yesterday, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke TD, announced €12.6 million in capital investment to support the transformative redevelopment of Galway City Museum. This flagship investment from Fáilte Ireland, delivered in partnership with Galway City Council, forms part of an overall project valued at €19.3 million. It represents a significant commitment to strengthening Ireland’s tourism infrastructure, positioning Galway City Museum as a landmark cultural attraction of national significance and a key driver of regional economic growth.  Fáilte Ireland projects that, over 10 years, the redevelopment will attract an additional 820,000 domestic and international visitors, generating an extra €47.3 million in direct visitor spending for the local and regional economy. The upgraded visitor centre serves as the gateway to the monument, located at the start of a 1km pedestrian route to the cliff-top fort.
