Drupal folks are everywhere! Former Drupal folks anyway. Over the last few days several people I know from the Drupal community have shown up on the front page of Hacker News. They weren't talking about Drupal. They've moved on to other things. Miguel Jacq released Enroll, a tool for importing existing servers into Ansible. This morning Mattias Geniar's post entitled "Web development is fun again" was sitting in the top 20. He discusses how AI has removed the need for deep domain knowledge, which in turn has made "web dev fun again". If it is a day ending in y, then Jeff Geerling is probably on the front page of the orange site. This was confirmed by him coming in second in the "The Most Popular Blogs of Hacker News in 2025" rankings.

Drupal’s Experience Builder now supports code components. These are React and Tailwind UI blocks you can build directly in the browser. No local setup needed, write, preview, and drop them into the page. Editors can configure props, manage layout, and reuse components visually. The Drupal Modeler API is ready for testing Thanks to FreelyGive Ltd we were able to get the Modeler API ready for testing by the #Drupal community. This is the UI orchestration for complex configurations like in ECA, AI Agents, Migration, and others, together with interfaces like BPMN.iO and hopefully others in the future. We've written detailed testing instructions at https://lnkd.in/e3E4nBRz and really hope that many of you will find some time to give this a try, and report back to us, so that the stable releases for all the involved modules can be published within weeks from now. As for myself, I'm going on a mini-vacation now, being back next week fully re-charged to address all the feedback that we'll hopefully receive.

What does the Drupal project have: a funded AI initiative. What does the Drupal project not have: enough paid core committers. The queue of ready core issues is 150 long because there just aren't enough people to attend to it. We can't expect a service this important and hard to be fulfilled completely by volunteers. What does Drupal core not have: a Documentation lead. This post was written on the ninth anniversary of the resignation of the last one. Nine years. (At least the DA covers the api module maintenance which she used to do too.)
