At the Urban Gardening BoF in Chicago, one of the topics that was briefly discussed was around whether & how we could identify or adopt a uniform manner of storing location information about urban gardens, such that it would be easily shareable, discoverable, pluggable...
One possible approach is Google Fusion Tables, which may be added as a layer (FusionTablesLayer) on a google map.
I've not explored this in depth, as these fusion tables are a new-to-me-google-api today, but it looked promising and approachable enough to jump in here and share.
