GitHub currently supports eight reactions on comments, issues, PRs, and discussions: 👍 👎 😄 🎉 😕 ❤️ 🚀 👀.
I'd like to request adding the saluting face emoji (🫡) to this set.
Why it would be useful:
It's a quick, friendly way to acknowledge a request, instruction, or hand-off — "got it, on it" — without writing a full reply. This comes up constantly in code review and issue triage.
It expresses respect or appreciation for someone's work in a way the existing reactions don't quite capture (👍 reads as plain approval, 🎉 as celebration, ❤️ as affection).
🫡 is a widely supported Unicode emoji (Emoji 14.0) and is already common across Slack, Discord, and other developer tools, so it would feel familiar.
Proposed behavior:
Add 🫡 as a ninth reaction option in the existing reaction picker, with no other changes to how reactions work.
Thanks for considering it!
