GitHub for External Drive Install??

Is there a version of GitHub for use on an external drive? When I install the regular version, it goes right to my C drive (win 11) with no option to change it.

There isn’t an official portable installer of GitHub Desktop that lets you choose a custom install drive during setup the installer always places it in your user profile on Windows (C: drive) and doesn’t offer an option to change that path during installation. This has been discussed in the official repo and there’s no native portable install support yet.

However, there is an unofficial project called GitHubDesktopPortable that packages GitHub Desktop as a portable app you can run from an external drive. You can extract and run it without installing to C: if you want portability.
