deployment is referring to deleted branch in github pages

I Hosted my portfolio on github pages, but for deployment is referring to deleted branch.I tried below steps

1. Resetting deploying branch from pages> build & deployment
2. selecting main branch for environment. Environments > Configure github-pages>Deployment branches and tags

Still my problem not resolved. Pls help me.

This usually happens because GitHub Pages still has old deployment data cached, even after the branch is deleted.

Try these steps in this exact order:

1. Disable GitHub Pages completely
   Go to:
   Repository → Settings → Pages
   Under “Build and deployment”:

• Set Source to “None”
• Click Save
  Wait 1–2 minutes.

2. Re-enable GitHub Pages
   Still in Settings → Pages:

• Set Source to “Deploy from a branch”
• Select branch: main
• Select folder: /root (or /docs if you use that)
• Click Save

3. Check Environments (important)
   Go to:
   Settings → Environments → github-pages

• Click Configure
• Under “Deployment branches and tags”
  select “All branches” (or explicitly allow main)
• Save changes

4. Trigger a fresh deployment
   Make a small commit to the main branch (for example, edit README.md and commit).
   This forces GitHub Pages to redeploy using the correct branch.

5. (Optional but helpful) Clear old workflows
   If you previously used GitHub Actions for Pages:

• Go to Actions tab
• Cancel any stuck or failed Pages deployments

After this, GitHub Pages should stop referring to the deleted branch and deploy from main.

Note:
GitHub Pages updates are not instant. It can take a few minutes for the settings change to fully apply.
