I've been using the same chat session for a few days, including today, and all of the sudden the chat returned the error:

Chat not found
This URL may be incorrect or the chat may have been deleted.

I do not have much information about this, if really necessary I saved my "chat id".

WTF! The same thing happened to me. I was two hours into a chat session planning a refactoring project. The page flickered in my browser and then refreshed to this

I lost all of the planning work. We were in the the process of creating an Issue with all of the requirements. And then poof. Gone.

It was my first time using GH Copilot in 2 years. Oh well, I guess that experiment is over. Back to using Cline.

I got the same issue!
I was using it for two months with premium subscription; and now all of my progress gone!

I hope they can figure out why the chat was cleared.

Bro, did anyone get their situation resolved? Same exact thing just happened to me. 2 hour discussion of architecture and refactoring and then all of a sudden -- "sorry try again later" and now the chat is not found! RIP

No it was not solved, and they won't be able to solve it.
I switched to using a local agent inspecting my files directly.

If you have the files summarized in your local machine then let the agent inspect the files to understand what you were trying to achieve, and I believe you will be able to continue from where you stopped.

Thanks for the follow up! I actually was able to "recover" my chat after re-tracing my steps.

I had renamed a repository in order to create a different, blank repo that had the same name.

These actions proved that the Copilot chats are somehow tied to a repo (all we did was talk about this repo early on, it was not selected as context in the interface). After I restored the repo, the chat returned and I was able to grab the context I needed from the chat session.

Maybe you did the same thing -- check your deleted repos and restore one that might have been deleted but tied to your chat. Your chat history should show up again in that session! Good luck!
