Hey Senne,
Think in sections → components → page, not pixels. Backgrounds, shadows, and effects are just tools to separate sections. Tiny Mermaid diagram (.mmd)flowchart LR
A[Idea] --> B[Sections]
B --> C[Design]
C --> D[Components]
D --> E[Page]
E --> F[Polish]
That’s it. Note: Keep researching and now that we live in the era of AI, I believe learning has become a lot more easier than it was ever before, ask precise questions, don't just copy paste, and ask even the most stupid questions, you never know what's gonna best work for you. Cheers |

Dear all,
I really love the new GitHub landing page.
I’m a beginner software developer. I’ve learned HTML, Tailwind CSS, Flask, basic JavaScript, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB so far. I’m currently focusing more on JavaScript and the Astro framework, and later I’d like to learn React.
Could you share some tips or best practices for designing a landing page like GitHub’s? I have some graphic design experience (Adobe Illustrator), but I’m not sure how to approach the process.
Should I design individual elements and then assemble them in code? What about backgrounds, lighting, effects, shadows? How to animate elements? I'm not sure how this all comes together...
Any tips & tricks regarding the design process, tools, ... are welcome.
Kind regards in advance,
Senne
