I have a situation - I am training my model and saving all the data in Gist. What is the maximum number of Gists that can be created?

There’s no publicly documented hard limit on the number of gists you (or a user) can create on GitHub Gists. A few relevant details:

According to an internal discussion on the GitHub Community forum:

“While there’s no strict restriction on the number of gists or files, managing such a large number might impact performance.”

There are size-limits per file: individual files in gists are limited to 100 MB (and via the web interface 25 MB) as noted in the same discussion.

The REST API mentions that you can fetch (list) up to 3,000 gists via pagination for public gists.

Practical take-away:
You can create thousands of gists (and possibly far more), but since there’s no documented “max number of gists per user” you should treat this as “effectively unlimited for normal usage, until you hit performance or abuse limits”.

If you’re doing very large-scale automated usage (e.g., thousands per day) it might trigger GitHub’s content-creation / abuse protections (rate limits, secondary limits) even though there isn’t a published cap on total gists.

GitHub does not publish any fixed limit on the number of Gists you can create per account. In practice, you can create as many Gists as you want.

The real limits are on size and rate, not count:

Individual files in a Gist are limited (large files are rejected)

Very large or very frequent uploads may hit GitHub API rate limits

Gists are not meant for large datasets or long-term storage

If you’re storing training data, Gists will work for small experiments, but for anything large or ongoing, a GitHub repo, Git LFS, or external storage is a better choice.
