  • We are pleased to announce the renewal of IOM Ghana’s Goodwill Ambassadors- Martin King Arthur (Kofi Kinaata) and Ama K. Abebrese, reaffirming a strong partnership that continues to amplify messages of safe migration, informed choices, and opportunities at home. As powerful voices for change, our ambassadors continue to play a vital role in amplifying stories of migration, raising awareness on key issues, and inspiring action across communities. Their renewed commitment reflects a shared vision of promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration while championing the dignity and rights of all migrants. We look forward to another impactful year of collaboration, advocacy, and driving conversations that matter and creating meaningful change.

  • As we wrap up Women’s Month and celebrate Ghana Month, we reflect on the power of people, stories, and movement in shaping our nation’s future.   From the strength and leadership of women across communities to the vital role migration plays in driving development, resilience, and opportunity, this month has been a reminder of what truly matters.   To close the month, we celebrate the Chief of Mission of IOM Ghana, whose powerful reflection on why IOM matters underscore the importance of agility in responding to today’s complex migration realities.   Read the full piece: https://bit.ly/4dqmbMl

  • In Upper West Region, women are stepping into their power as peacebuilders and community leaders.   Ghana’s Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, through the IOM implemented Coastal States Stability Mechanism (CSSM), supports 90 Queen Mothers and Fulbe women in gaining the skills, confidence, and platforms to lead inclusion, dialogue, resolve conflicts, and shape decisions that affect their communities.   For many, this is the first time they are being recognized as leaders. From learning how to engage community authorities to contributing to peacebuilding discussions, these women are transforming not only their own roles but the future of their communities, helping to reduce tensions, build trust, and ensure that peace efforts leave no one behind.   Because when women lead, communities thrive!  United Nations Ghana| Fatou D Ndiaye |Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana| British High Commission Accra | IOM West and Central Africa| Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany

  • This Women’s Month, IOM Ghana #GoodwillAmbassadors remind us that migration must be built on rights, justice, and action. They are using their voices to spotlight the power, resilience, and rights of women on the move. From recognizing women as leaders and drivers of development to calling for stronger systems that protect their dignity and safety, their message is clear: migration must work for women!

For returning migrants like Sherrifa, the lack of legal identity does not just slow reintegration; it limits their opportunities, their access to protection, and their ability to rebuild. With support from the National Identification Authority (NIA), Ghana and through the EU-funded Migrant Protection, Return and Reintegration for Sub-Saharan Africa initiative, Sherrifa finally obtained her “Ghana Card,” helping her rebuild her life back home. The second African Climate Summit was a powerful reminder of Africa’s collective resolve to drive climate-resilient and green development. IOM’s side event with Funding from IOM Development Fund, brought together policymakers, city administrators, and experts to explore how African cities are adapting to climate-induced mobility. Case studies from Ghana, Ethiopia, and Burundi revealed the complex challenges and opportunities of managing migration in urban spaces. Watch the video below to understand the issues discussed. • In line with the World Tuberculosis Day 2026 theme, “Yes! We Can End TB: Led by countries, powered by people,” we asked our health colleagues a few questions on TB! Quick questions. Real answers. TB awareness starts here! Listen to what our health colleagues want YOU to know about TB.   Tuberculosis (TB) doesn’t wait, why should we? Visit our Migration Health Assessment Centres (MHACs) in Accra and Kumasi. IOM offers a safe and friendly space for migrants to check their TB status and get the right support. Key activities include: ➡️ Mapping migration corridors and key resource points ➡️ Facilitating dialogue between herders, farmers, and traditional leaders ➡️ Training communities in conflict prevention and mediation ➡️ Supporting inclusive natural resource management plans By strengthening collaboration across border communities, the programme contributes to peaceful coexistence, sustainable land use, and climate resilience. #ClimateMigration #ClimateAction

#KlimaMigration #KlimaAktion
