Today, on #SaferInternetDay, Microsoft releases the 10th edition of its Global Online Safety Survey, providing a decade of insights into how children and families navigate the online world. The findings reveal growing challenges: - 64% of teens faced at least one online risk in the past year, including cyberbullying, hate speech, or scams. - Parents are increasingly worried not only about harmful content but also about children's dependence on AI, which may hinder critical thinking and digital resilience. - The rapid rise of generative AI intensifies these concerns, as confidence in recognizing deepfakes has plummeted from 46% to 25%, complicating the ability to differentiate fact from fabrication and impacting societal trust. However, there is also a positive note: teenagers are more proactive about online safety than often perceived. Nearly three-quarters take action after an incident by blocking or reporting, and they are more likely to involve their parents. This indicates that education, open dialogue, and trusted support can significantly impact online safety. For policymakers and educators, the research provides clear guidance: invest in digital literacy, implement safety-by-design principles, and ensure families have access to practical tools and guidance, such as Microsoft’s Family Safety toolkit. It’s a game changer for telcos of all sizes, especially those navigating European sovereign cloud requirements. I had an interesting conversation with a client of mine on this topic. While there might be a smaller work force in traditional areas that will be replaced by AI, the “AI maker” industry would boom and the global workforce will increase. Industrial Revolution and Technology revolution are examples of that reallocation and overall growth. This dip might be temporary till AI reaches a tipping point of maturity and commercialization. Excellent interview of Dario Amodei CEO of Anthropic, one question that came up is how do you address human knowledge and human learning on the job in the agentic AI world. At Progress Software, we have created a cyborg learning system on the progress data platform #PDP that enables humans and AI to collaborate to create and remember this knowledge, independent of the AI models. Once the learnings are captured in the #semantic layer, our customers gain the ability to reuse that proprietary corporate knowledge in a lot of different business use cases. Great to see AWS CEO Matt Garman on Bloomberg TV talking about our AI momentum and Project Rainier, our collaboration with Anthropic to build next-gen AI training infrastructure. This will be the largest AI compute cluster running on our Trainium 2 processors. Nice to see the focus on both scale and cost efficiency.

👏👏👏 Amazon Web Services (AWS) is leading the way in the vendor-side PQC transition by consistently incorporating hybrid key agreement support in their TLS services. Back in August it was Cloudfront, making many public HTTPS services quantum-safe enabled with zero effort from the owners. Now, Amazon S3 on public service endpoints. Kudos to the AWS cryptography team, including Matthew Campagna, Panos Kampanakis and Avni Rambhia. 👏👏👏
