The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 reveals a fascinating interplay between established academic hubs and rapidly improving regions. While North America remains the most represented region globally, the improvements and growth in ranked subjects in Asia-Pacific locations indicate that the traditional dominance of Western institutions is being challenged by high-quality universities in emerging destinations. 📈 Southern Asia sees 40% of its subjects moving up 🧮 Eastern Asia has the most new entries, with the most new subjects (378) and the most new institutions (125). 🇸🇬 Singapore is the most improved location overall, with 65% of its ranked subjects improving. 🌏 Global Skills Week is underway here in the US capital of Washington D.C. We've convened 350+ leaders from higher education, government, and industry to explore the rapidly changing skills landscape.  Patrick Brothers, Executive Director, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, set the scene with a burst of QS data snapshots, showcasing how eight global shifts are driving change in the skills economy. AI and automation are evolving at such pace - he explained - that it’s “impacting all of us and all of our jobs” and there is a need for skilling and reskilling at scale. In the opening panel, Adam Goldfarb, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Opportunity AI, said: “AI is going to require us to pivot between tasks and between job titles more often and we’re not really equipped for this. “When we’re asked to change jobs, when we have to take time off to reskill, what does that mean for our sense of who we are? Are we equipped mentally for that shift?“ This intersection of skills, policy and education will shape many sessions and conversations over the next two days as organizations seek exchanges and solutions to meet the future needs of education and work. #GlobalSkillsWeek  #QSInsights
