Your team has been working on mass reduction or electrification challenges for 18 months. The functional constraints are clear. The solution space isn't. That's usually where R&D programs stall. On June 11, we're showing how biological systems, which have been solving exactly these trade-offs for millions of years, can feed your engineering programs at this stage. Eliot Graeff, PhD, CEO and co-founder of Asteria, will walk through concrete client projects, structural design, material selection, and early-stage vehicle architecture, with a live look at the platform. We will be joined by Matthieu LAMBOLEZ, Strategic Innovation Lead in Biomimicry & Nature-Inspired Design at Volvo Group. He pioneered the #biomimicry framework within the company, building the internal methodology, the partner ecosystem, and the cross-functional process from the ground up. He will share what that journey looks like in practice, and what working with Asteria has meant for their engineering programs. 📅 Thursday June 11, 12pm Paris. Online & free. 👉 Registration link in the comments.

The ultimate reward for Asteria team: a new biomimetic patent 👌 For a long time we kept it all to ourselves, industrial confidentiality, ongoing POCs, results still pending validation. In recent weeks, the pace has shifted: our users are now innovating autonomously and proving the platform's value through what they deliver. Validated POCs, formulations showing concrete efficacy, patents being drafted… we live by the rhythm of these tangible proofs that Asteria makes a real difference on key industry challenges. Today, I'm thrilled to introduce the patent just filed by Mercy Akande, tackling something we all know too well: slipping on ice. The result: bioinspired traction geometries with use cases across footwear, automotive, and robotics. Mercy used Asteria agentic suite and database to fuse two biological models inside a parametric algorithm, the polar bear paw and the sweet gum capsule. The transfer is based on the design parameters provided by Asteria and is purely geometric: no change in material, only new shapes. He 3D-printed the result and tested it physically on ice. The verdict: 2× the slope tolerance on hard ice, compared to a control sample. As he puts it: same material with different structure leads to different functions. A success story made even greater by being shared, with Mercy himself, and with the team at Learn Biomimicry, whose Sprint training on Asteria was the starting point of his journey with the tool. Many thanks to them 🙏

A few weeks ago, we were selected among 300+ companies to exhibit at VivaTech on the CCI Paris IdF stand, from June 17 to 20. Today, we're opening a few slots for live demos. Last year at VivaTech, hosted by KPMG, we ran demos on industrial challenges brought directly by visitors. Olivier Rolland and L'Oréal gave us a slot at their booth for a joint session. This year, we're back with the same approach, but with a bigger stage. If you're there, bring a real challenge, and we'll work on it with you, on the spot. The perfect occasion to (re)discover our platform, our AI agents and our index composed of 680,000 biological mechanisms, 300,000 bio-inspired patents and 1M+ curated publications. Link to book a slot in the comments.

If you're heading to Cosm'Innov at the end of the month, we can turn one of your current R&D challenges into a live platform exploration. The format is simple: bring a formulation or ingredient challenge you're currently working on, and we'll open the platform around your topic, cross-referencing 680,000+ biological mechanisms with 300,000+ bio-inspired patents to surface approaches you may not have considered. Cosmetics is already one of our most active verticals, with L'Oréal and Pierre Fabre among our main references in the sector. Our CEO Eliot Graeff, PhD will also be on stage on May 20, exploring how #biomimicry moves from the scientific framework to concrete R&D decisions in cosmetics. If you want to go further after his talk, we can make time. Join us at Cosm'Innov, the international congress for cosmetics research organized by Cosmetic Valley on May 20–21 at Orléans or online, and don't hesitate to book a meeting in advance with our experts (link in the comments).

Last Friday, our CEO Eliot Graeff, PhD attended the second Biomimicry Circle session at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg, hometown of Volvo Group. Maya Mhammed and Florence Brefort presented three years of biomimicry integration at Volvo Group. Their presentation traced how the Lyon R&D team embedded biomimicry into their practice, from their initial training by Tarik CHEKCHAK, to their first project supported by Ceebios that led to a bio-inspired patent: a concrete milestone for bio-inspired R&D in the automotive industry. For one year now, they have been integrating Asteria to further support their autonomous practice and deploy #biomimicry as a transversal way to solve their daily concrete problem. Eliot presented how Asteria helps engineering teams shift their practice: from technical constraints to bio-inspired mechanisms, and from mechanisms to engineering specifications supporting the development of patentable design concepts. Asteria is made by engineers for engineers. The permanent feedback and support of the Volvo Group R&D team played a key role in making the platform the reference it is today. Thanks a lot to Máren Ingá Baer and Martin Högenberg for organizing this event and giving us the opportunity to present our results.
