Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication (CSSC) at the Stockholm School of Economics, together with the The Ax:son Johnson Institute for Statecraft and Diplomacy (AJI), is pleased to announce two fully funded PhD fellowships for the 2026 intake. These fellowships offer the opportunity to join a vibrant intellectual community spanning SSE’s Department for Marketing and Strategy, the House of Governance and Public Policy (GaPP), and the international AJI consortium. At CSSC, our research sits at the intersection of: 🔹 History 🔹 Statecraft & international affairs 🔹 Strategic communication — including diplomacy, rhetoric, propaganda, intelligence, and information influence We welcome historically informed projects that engage with these themes. One of the positions focuses specifically on Propaganda and Disinformation, examining international influence operations and societal responses using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The second position is open to projects aligned with CSSC’s broader research strands, including links to economic history. Who Should Apply? Highly motivated candidates with a passion for knowledge, strong analytical ability, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Applicants should meet SSE’s doctoral admission requirements; advanced studies in business administration, political science, history, sociology, or economics are welcomed.
