Yesterday we hosted our second Morning Briefing of 2026 with Théau Peronnin, CEO of Alice & Bob. It was a strong reminder of how fast the quantum race is accelerating, and why Europe has a real role to play. A few takeaways: • In just 6 years, Alice & Bob has grown to ~200 people, raised €130m, and built a leading quantum R&D hub in Paris • Their “cat qubit” technology is a major breakthrough, reducing the size and cost of quantum computers by ~200x by eliminating a key source of error at the hardware level • Already in the global top five, they’re targeting concrete applications, from molecular simulation to finance and cryptography, with impact expected around 2030. Thanks to everyone who joined and contributed to the conversation!

Delighted to announce that AVP has led Qdrant’s $50M Series B! As AI systems move into real-world deployment, retrieval is becoming critical infrastructure. Qdrant, built in Rust from the ground up, gives engineers composable control over indexing, scoring, filtering, and ranking, enabling real optimization across relevance, latency, and cost at scale. With 250M+ downloads and customers including Tripadvisor, HubSpot, OpenTable, Bazaarvoice, and Bosch, Qdrant is building the retrieval layer modern AI systems depend on. A few weeks ago, AVP led Selector’s $32M funding round. We invested because networks are mission-critical, yet the tools to monitor and operate them haven’t kept pace with hybrid cloud and AI-driven complexity. Selector is redefining what modern network observability looks like. Its AI-powered platform unifies telemetry, automates correlation, and delivers real-time root cause analysis across the full network stack. François Robinet joined Seb Johnson 📊🇪🇺 on Scaling Europe to discuss AVP’s journey and what it means to be a transatlantic investor. The conversation explored what it means to invest on both sides of the Atlantic, and how that dual perspective helps founders scale across markets with the right timing, capital and talent. They also discussed a critical challenge for Europe: backing the next generation of deep tech. AI, quantum, robotics and semiconductors require significantly larger early rounds. To remain competitive and ensure long-term value creation, Europe needs funds with the scale and risk appetite to lead them. Tune into the full episode 👇 https://lnkd.in/eZXuuUDV
GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT: François Robinet, Founder and Managing Partner at AVP 🚀 AVP started inside AXA with an $80m venture fund focused on Series A. Ten years later the firm manages $2.5bn across venture and growth, investing across Europe and the US with a truly transatlantic strategy. François believes that while Europe has built a strong startup ecosystem, the biggest gap now is capital for the next generation of deep tech companies. Technologies like AI, quantum computing and robotics require far larger early rounds, sometimes $100m at Series A, and Europe still lacks funds with the size and risk appetite to lead those rounds. We sat down to discuss: 🚀 Building AVP from an $80m fund to $2.5bn 🚀 Why Europe and the US need a transatlantic investment strategy 🚀 When European startups should expand to the US 🚀 The people and capital needed to scale globally 🚀 Why Europe needs bigger venture funds for deep tech Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/duTtM3A7 Or search “Scaling Europe - François Robinet” on YouTube or Spotify. The Scaling Europe show is presented by Deel, and sponsored by Venture Comet LTD, SurrealDB and Omni.

Earlier this week, François Robinet joined B SMART 4Change to discuss technological sovereignty, and the structural funding gap facing deeptech. Europe does not lack talent in quantum, AI, robotics or semiconductors, it lacks capital at scale. In capital-intensive technologies, early rounds are no longer €10-20m. They can require hundreds of millions to build infrastructure, accelerate hiring and scale development. Public capital plays an important role, but technological sovereignty will require European funds to deploy €200-300m early to support the next generation of industrial leaders. Europe has proven it can create world-class companies. But to keep and scale them, we must address the structural funding gap at the growth stage. From AI and deep tech to life sciences and robotics, the opportunity is vast, unlocking it will require coordinated action across investors, founders and policymakers. In our latest op-ed for Pathfounders, co-authored with Quantonation and Speedinvest, we outline what needs to change. https://lnkd.in/ewggeTqm François Robinet Olivier Tonneau Andreas Schwarzenbrunner

Europe is at an inflection point. World-class innovation is here, what’s needed now is growth capital at scale. As a transatlantic investor, AVP backs ambitious companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Today, Europe’s opportunity is clear: exceptional talent, deep technical expertise, and companies ready to compete globally. Realizing this potential requires reinforcing the foundations that allow businesses to grow at home and lead internationally. Aligned, growth-focused capital will shape the next generation of European champions.
