Steel manufacturing is one of the most energy-intensive industries on the planet. Understanding where that energy goes, and what it costs in CO2, is no longer optional. We built a 3-page Steel Industry Energy Consumption Dashboard in Dashtera®, connected live to MongoDB, covering 35,040 time-series records from a KEPCO-monitored steel plant. No code. Key findings: 🔵 959.64 MWh total energy consumption tracked 🔵 23.27 tCO2 total emissions over the monitoring period 🔵 Maximum_Load operations account for 430.98 MWh - nearly half of all consumption 🔵 January peaks above 120,000 kWh - seasonal production patterns clearly visible 🔵 R² = 0.98 between energy usage and CO2 - almost perfect linear relationship 🔵 Average lagging power factor at 80.58 - reactive power losses still an opportunity Heatmaps, regression charts, parallel coordinates, Pareto analysis, spider charts, all driven by MongoDB aggregation pipelines, all built without writing a line of code. We put Dashtera®, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, and Grafana through the same benchmark, scaling from 5×1k to 5×5M data points. Here’s what actually happened: 🟢 Dashtera - handled 6 simultaneous charts with 5M data points each. Full zoom and pan interactivity throughout. Zero perceived latency. Automated CSV parsing with no manual configuration. 🟡 Qlik - ingested the full 5×5M dataset but produced a completely static chart: no zoom, no pan, no hover labels without complex scripting. 🔴 Power BI - hit a terminal resource limit error at 5×5M. Required manual unpivoting of columns just to display multiple lines, and that feature doesn’t even work in the browser version. 🔴 Tableau - crashed at 5×500k. Only stable at 5×100k, with severe latency on every single interaction. Zoom and pan require manual activation through a sub-menu. ⚪ Grafana - excluded entirely due to lack of native local CSV support. The conclusion from independent testing: traditional BI tools are not built for high-density exploratory analysis.
