The conversation around #SearchFunds is entering a new chapter — and IESE’s alumni community is helping lead the way. 🚀 At IESE Madrid, the launch of the Barrilero Fund for Search Funds and #EntrepreneurialAcquisitions brought together academics, investors and operators to reflect on how this model is evolving — from its origins as a pathway for first-time CEOs to today’s broader landscape of entrepreneurial acquisitions. What stood out was not only the quality of the discussion, but the strength of the community behind it. 🤝 Several #IESEAlumni took the stage, sharing firsthand perspectives from the front lines of transformation — from scaling companies to navigating the complexities of leadership. Their presence underscored a defining characteristic of the search fund ecosystem: a culture of mentorship, collaboration and long-term value creation. For decades, this model has thrived on the active involvement of experienced investors and operators who support new leaders in their journey. That same spirit was evident throughout the event — a shared commitment to shaping the next generation of entrepreneurial #leadership. As new models emerge and the ecosystem becomes more sophisticated, initiatives like the Barrilero Fund reinforce IESE’s role as a global hub for research, dialogue and community-building in this space. What happens when you return to the Career Forum—this time, on the other side of the table? 💼 We asked a few alumni who once sat where today’s participants are, now engaging in the process as recruiters. Their perspective is shaped not only by experience, but by having navigated the same decisions, questions and uncertainties themselves. 💡 They come back not only out of connection, but out of conviction. They know what IESE represents—and trust it. For them, recruiting here is a safe bet: on #talent, on values, and on professionals prepared to make an impact from day one. What stands out to them today goes beyond preparation. Yes, technical rigor matters, but so do curiosity, adaptability and a genuine commitment to #KeepLearning long after the role begins. Their advice is not about standing out for the sake of it. It is quieter, and perhaps more demanding: ask honest questions, take the time to understand what truly motivates you, and resist the urge to rush into decisions. Opportunities will come—the real challenge is knowing which ones are worth pursuing. #AlumniExcellenceAwards 🏆 What does impactful #research look like today? 🤔 At IESE, it means exploring how technology reshapes work, how #leadership evolves under pressure, and how organizations can balance performance with human and social impact. This year, the Alumni Excellence Awards 2025 recognized four professors whose work is helping to answer many questions and shape the way we see certain topics: Enrique Ide, Eduard Talamàs, Mireia Las Heras and Nuria Chinchilla Albiol. 🔍 Their research not only advances academic knowledge, but it also equips leaders with the insight needed to navigate complexity and make better decisions in an ever-changing world. Yesterday evening, under the leadership of Maria Diaz-Morera (MBA-06), we held the 2026 Governing Board of the IESE Alumni Association — a key moment in our annual calendar to review, approve and, importantly, shape what comes next. 🗣️ Alongside the approval of the 2024–25 annual report and financial statements, this year’s meeting placed special emphasis on listening. The perspectives shared by class representatives over the past months have been instrumental in helping us refine priorities and adjust our course for the future. 🔎 We also had the opportunity to bring research to life through a session based on the award-winning case recognized in the Research Excellence Awards, led by professors Eduard Talamàs and Enrique Ide — a great example of how knowledge continues to connect and inspire our community. The discussion, insights and exchanges throughout the evening reaffirmed what makes this community unique: a shared commitment to #leadership, excellence and a spirit of service.
