With festival season just around the corner, streaming traffic and User-Generated Content (UGC) can explode in a matter of hours. In today's digital music landscape, capturing that momentum is only half the battle; the other half is having a backend clean and scalable enough to prevent revenue leakage. In SonoSuite's May newsletter, we tackle this exact challenge. We also share a guide for record labels to manage their music rights and stop missing out on royalties. Plus, we bring you all the updates from our team after an intense month of international conferences: key takeaways from our time at Music Biz, Latin Rio, and Rio2C, and the exciting news of our CCO, Hen Heimdal, being selected for the Merlin Engage program. Finally, we analyze the latest major industry shift: Spotify deprecating its automated Viral 50 charts to transition into a discovery model 100% driven by human curators. Catch up with the industry here 👇🏼

Data fragmentation is still the biggest black hole in the music industry. Even with DDEX standards in place, adoption remains inconsistent. The result? We're still stuck with data silos, messy workflows, and money left on the table for labels and distributors. This week, our Data Architect Moises Catala joined a panel hosted by Kordat Espacio de Datos, AIE Sociedad de Artistas and Music Tech Hub (MTH) to talk through how SonoSuite approaches this at scale. The conversation focused on what it actually takes to build transparent, auditable data infrastructure in an industry that still runs on fragmented systems. To overcome these challenges, the music industry must transition toward a unified, agile ecosystem built on a flexible data structure. By implementing a comprehensive data model that supports the entire music chain, the industry can establish a collaborative music data space governed by clear rules to foster trust.

The industry is paying attention to UGC. Are you? At Music Biz 2026 in Atlanta, one of the standout sessions our team attended was "More Equals More: UGC Pathways to YouTube Revenue." The message was clear: UGC and YouTube Shorts are becoming core strategies for artist development and catalog growth, especially for independents. Short-form content is no longer just about discovery. It's a real revenue driver and the music companies who build around it now will have a serious edge. We've been covering exactly this. Our latest piece breaks down how to leverage TikTok trends to drive viral growth for your catalog: https://lnkd.in/eVKDj_Wf
