A jury of distinguished scholars determines the recipient of the fellowship. Fellowship stipends vary according to the needs of the specific project, with a maximum award of $30,000. CFC NEWS: Lucia Pietroiusti and Filipa Ramos Announced as Convenors of  Bergen Assembly 2028 Bergen Assembly 2028 has announced the appointment of Lucia Pietroiusti and Filipa Ramos as convenors for its sixth edition, set to take place across the Norwegian city in 2028. In a newly released curatorial statement, the duo describe their vision for Bergen Assembly 2028 as an evolving and “shape-shifting” platform. The edition will experiment with new ways of bringing together people, objects, stories, and ideas. Their approach combines historical, biological, philosophical, and speculative perspectives, connecting both “planetary” and situated forms of thinking. The convenors plan to investigate relationships between art, craft, language, memory, ecosystems, and technology. They will also reflect on forms of consciousness across both living beings and machines. Topics outlined in the announcement include ancient understandings of technē, animal play, machine intelligence, and the “prosthetic capacity of the imagination.” Read the full story on our website:

CFC NEWS: Russian Strikes Damage Museums and Cultural Institutions Across Kyiv Several major cultural institutions and heritage sites in Kyiv were damaged during a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on the night of 23–24 May 2026, one of the heaviest bombardments of the Ukrainian capital since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. According to Reuters, at least four people were killed and nearly 100 injured in the strikes, which targeted Kyiv and surrounding areas. The attacks also caused significant damage to museums, libraries, theatres, galleries, and historic buildings across the city. Among the affected institutions was the National Art Museum of Ukraine, one of the country’s oldest and most important museums. While the museum’s collection and staff were unharmed, the historic building sustained structural damage from the blast wave. NAMU announced its temporary closure following the attack. The programme aims to foster new scholarship, encourage original research approaches, and situate Yves Klein’s practice within broader cultural, artistic, and contemporary contexts. The selected researcher will also receive fully covered travel and accommodation, access to archives in Paris, a dedicated workspace, and research support. A final text of up to 30,000 characters must be submitted within six months, with the possibility of publication on the Foundation’s website. Applicants must be under 35 years old, at a PhD or postdoctoral level, and conducting research in art history, aesthetics, or the humanities. CFC NEWS: Wassan Al-Khudhairi Appointed Artistic Director of Art Basel Qatar 2027 Presented in partnership with Qatar Sports Investments and QC+, the second edition of Art Basel Qatar will take place from 28–30 January 2027, with preview days on 26 and 27 January. Al-Khudhairi will work closely with Vincenzo de Bellis to develop the artistic and curatorial direction of the fair and oversee the gallery selection process alongside the Selection Committee. An Iraqi curator with longstanding ties to the MENASA region, Al-Khudhairi previously served as the founding director of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, where she oversaw the museum’s opening in 2010 and curated landmark exhibitions including Sajjil: A Century of Modern Art and Cai Guo-Qiang’s Saraab. Currently a partner at The Curatorial / Office, Al-Khudhairi has held a number of major international curatorial roles, including co-curator of the 6th Asian Art Biennial in Taiwan and co-artistic director of the 9th Gwangju Biennial in South Korea. She also previously served as Ferring Foundation Chief Curator at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis and as Hugh Kaul Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art.
