Wikiquote:Patrolling
Patrolling is a MediaWiki feature that allows users with the patrol user right (administrators and patrollers) to mark new pages as patrolled. A log of patrolled pages is at Special:Log/patrol.
User groups
[edit]Autopatrollers
[edit]
Autopatrollers are users whose page creations are automatically marked as patrolled by the MediaWiki software (autopatrol). In addition, they can also edit pages protected under autopatroller protection (editautopatrolprotected). These permissions are automatically granted to administrators.
Administrators can grant this right at their discretion to trusted users who regularly create new articles, provided they are familiar with Wikiquote's policies and guidelines.
There are currently 5 autopatrollers on the English Wikiquote.

Page review process
[edit]Normal process
[edit]- An editor without the autopatrolled user right creates a new article.
- The page appears in the new pages feed, where it is highlighted in yellow and not marked as "patrolled".
- An administrator or patroller reviews the page in order to check for issues. If there are none, they will mark the page as "patrolled".
Autopatrolled process
[edit]- An editor with the autopatrolled user right creates an article.
- Similar to the above, the page appears in the new pages feed, but it is not highlighted in yellow, indicating that the page is automatically marked as patrolled by the software.
- Since the page is automatically marked as patrolled, an administrator or patroller does not have to review it, but may do so if they wish.
