5mdKasper Munck videredelte dette𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐡𝐃 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 A piece of research by Georgian-Vlad Saioc, former PhD student and now software engineer at Uber, is now being integrated into the upcoming Go 1.26 release of Google’s Go programming language, used by millions of developers worldwide. In his PhD work, Vlad tackled a long-standing challenge in Go: partial deadlocks (also known as goroutine leaks) - situations where some goroutines become permanently blocked, silently consuming memory and resources in long-running systems. 📄 In the paper “𝘋𝘺𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘋𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘷𝘪𝘢 𝘎𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯” (ASPLOS 2025), he and co-authors Angelina Lee, Anders Møller, and Milind Chabbi introduce a novel idea: by piggybacking on Go’s garbage collector, memory reachability can be used as a sound over-approximation of goroutine liveness. This makes it possible to detect and even recover from partial deadlocks at runtime, with negligible overhead - even in production systems. The approach was implemented in a prototype called Golf (Goroutine Leak Fixer) and evaluated on: ➡️ microbenchmarks with known concurrency bugs ➡️ thousands of Go packages in Uber’s codebase ➡️ a real Uber production service, where it detected hundreds of previously hidden partial deadlocks Read the paper here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eET5WMsu We’re excited to see this work integrated into the Go toolchain, where it appears in Go 1.26 as an experimental goroutine leak profiling feature - a strong example of how fundamental research can directly improve widely used programming languages at massive scale. Congratulations to Vlad and collaborators - great to see Aarhus University research shaping the future of Go 🚀 #computerscience #programminglanguageDynamic Partial Deadlock Detection and Recovery via Garbage Collection | Proceedings of the 30th ACM International Conference on Architectural Support for Programming Languages and Operating Systems, Volume 2Dynamic Partial Deadlock Detection and Recovery via Garbage Collection | Proceedings of the 30th ACM International Conference on Architectural Support for Programming Languages and Operating Systems, Volume 2 -

Kasper Munck reagerede på detteKasper Munck reagerede på detteIn a hybrid setup, goodbyes don't happen all at once. They come in waves. The last day in the office. The last standup. The last team call. And then, quietly, the calendar goes empty and the notifications stop. This Friday was my last day at Grundfos after five years as a consultant on Grundfos Connect. Five years is longer than most consultants get, and the involvement and responsibility I was trusted with along the way went far further than I had ever hoped when I joined. I walked into the project in June 2021, at a point where it had been trying to replace a legacy system multiple times over nearly a decade. The senior leadership was getting weekly stakeholder escalations, the lead backend developer had resigned on the morning of my first day, and we spent that summer stabilising something that was not supposed to need stabilising. Five years later, the platform carries the most connected devices in Grundfos, three of four business units build on top of it, and the team deploys daily where it used to be a semi-annual event. We used to say on our Friday meetings that this week had been wild and next week only seemed to pick up speed. That was true for most of five years. You don't notice how fast it moves until it stops. I'm proud of those results, but not as much as I'm proud of the people who created them. I drove the hiring process for most of the core team and onboarded them when they arrived. Every hire met the existing team before any contract was signed, because culture is set by who you let in. We were looking for people who were both sharp and high on interpersonal skills. When you find that combination and let it set the standard, it compounds. In the last weeks, I asked colleagues for honest feedback. Their perspective on what they had seen me do well, what I might not be aware of, and one thing I could benefit from focusing more on. The responses have been overwhelming. Some of it confirmed what I hoped was true. Some of it surprised me. Five years is long enough to see the full arc of something. It deserves more than just a mental note. What came through most consistently was the team culture we built together. That trust was the foundation, not just a value on a slide. That we learned from failure as a system, not as blame. That the team eventually ran the post-mortems and most of the operational decisions without me, and that this was the goal, not a side effect. Several colleagues have told me this was the best team they've been part of. I feel the same. I'll be spending the summer with my family. In the autumn I'll figure out what's next. For now, the empty calendar is the point.

Kasper Munck syntes godt om detteKasper Munck syntes godt om detteI’m excited to share that I’ve returned to Uber as VP of Engineering. Coming back feels both familiar and new at the same time! The scale, technical ambition, and opportunities ahead are bigger than ever, especially as we step into our AI-driven era of building. We’re at the start of something exciting. AI isn’t new to Uber. From the company’s earliest days, teams pioneered machine learning to power many different systems at impressive scale. And now, I’m eager to take Uber to the next level as a place where builders in AI want to come, do their best work, and shape how intelligent systems transform real-world platforms. It’s been great diving in with the teams and start rethinking the future of engineering. We’re unlocking new levels of velocity and impact through AI, while always keeping safety and the people we serve at the center of everything we do. Grateful to Praveen Neppalli Naga for the opportunity, and excited to partner with him again as we take on this next chapter for Uber. I've been reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting many new colleagues and excited to take Uber forward! 🚀

Kasper Munck syntes godt om detteKasper Munck syntes godt om detteWe just shipped Claude Opus 4.8 and dynamic workflows! Claude Opus 4.8 is the most capable model we've put out and the best you can build on right now, outside the Mythos-class systems we're still testing under Project Glasswing. SWE-bench Pro went from 64.3 to 69.2. But the improvement I keep coming back to is honesty. Opus 4.8 is about 4x less likely than 4.7 to let a flaw in its own code slide past unremarked. It tells you what it's unsure of instead of dressing up thin progress as finished work. For anyone whose agents run with real oversight cost, that's worth more than another point on a leaderboard. That compounds on big, long-running jobs, which is why I'm most excited about dynamic workflows, launching in research preview today. Claude plans the work, fans out across hundreds of parallel subagents in a single session, and verifies its own output before handing it back, with 4.8 letting those agents run longer before they report. This is aimed at the work that used to take a quarter and a working group: codebase-scale migrations, sprawling refactors, and bug fixes across hundreds of thousands of lines, graded against the test suite you already trust. Available in Claude Code for Enterprise, Team, and Max. One practical note for fellow builders: Opus 4.8 defaults to "high" effort, and that's the right setting for most work. There's an "xhigh" level for the genuinely hard, long-running tasks. It's strong, but it's token hungry, so reach for it deliberately. We've made the headroom for it on both sides: higher rate limits for subscribers, and fast mode now 2.5x the speed at 3x lower cost ($10/$50) for API customers. Standard pricing is unchanged at $5/$25. Available today. More in the blog: https://lnkd.in/ggSctZyc

During this PhD project, Amalie studied how to measure and evaluate style-related aspects of text, particularly in text generated by artificial intelligence. With the rapid development and increasing use of large language models, such as chatbots, it has become important to assess not only the information these systems generate, but also how it is expressed, for example, whether the text contains persuasive language. Her findings contribute to a better understanding of how to evaluate nuanced and subjective aspects of AI-generated text. This is important for developing trustworthy AI systems. Good luck, Amalie!

Kasper Munck syntes godt om detteKasper Munck syntes godt om detteOracle has spent the last two weeks writing articles comparing Oracle (and PDB) to Lakebase, and it highlights a massive philosophical divide in how we view databases in the agentic era. They are trying to retrofit heavy, traditional architectures for AI. We believe Lakebase are the future because agents need something entirely different: ⚡️ Super simple APIs: so agents don't have to read a giant manual and hallucinate a query. ⚡️ Sub-second provisioning & auto-scaling: so you aren't paying legacy-level prices for idle time. ⚡️ Branching: Git-style branching to create isolated, safe environments for agents on the fly. ⚡️ Automatic backup & restore: so you don't sweat it when an autonomous agent inevitably drops a table. The numbers speak for themselves. Lakebase is our fastest growing product. In the last few months alone, we've seen database start rate 30X, and now we are starting tens of millions of databases EVERY DAY. Some of these databases have 500 level deep branches and lifetime of just seconds due to how fast agents move. Go try it yourself in a few seconds on neon.com! The team has been cooking hard to push this gap even further. Come to Data and AI Summit next month to hear about some major new breakthrough capabilities. 🚀 (Links in comments so you can read their take)

How to vibe code efficiently the Swedish way 🇸🇪 LLMs are super eager to help and it's something to watch out for. Give too little context and detail and the model will start guessing only to please you. Give too much context and detail and you might as well write the code yourself. In Swedish language there is a word "Lagom" which translates to "just the right amount." So try to give your agent a "lagom" dose of context. If you use a well-architectured agent it will provide you with the action plan before it starts working. Use that plan as a measuring stick to check the quality, efficiency and level of your communication.. Effective prompting is a learnable skill like all others and the best way to learn it is by action + trial and error.

At Softermii, 11+ years of building software taught us something important: delivering software is rarely just about writing code. Across industries, we kept seeing the same challenges: 🟠 Estimates based on experience, not predictive insight 🟠 Early requirements that are incomplete or ambiguous 🟠 Risks that only surface after time and budget are spent 🟠 Architectural decisions made too early or with limited context 🟠 Delivery slowdowns caused by misalignment rather than engineering difficulty Solving these issues project by project was not enough. We needed to understand what drives successful software outcomes before development begins. That led us to create a dedicated team focused entirely on studying delivery. They analyzed 200+ projects, 1500+ proposals, architectural decisions, timelines, bottlenecks, and rework cycles. Now, we are preparing something new - a product built to help startups and high-growth companies build software faster, more securely, cost-efficiently, and with quality from the start. Stay tuned for updates. Product announcement will come soon 🔥 #Softermii #SoftwareDelivery #Startups #Innovation

This deserves more visibility. A student at Stockholm University is doing their Master's thesis on something most of us are living through right now — AI adoption in Software QA. If you're in QA — tester, lead, or manager — and you've had any exposure to AI tools or even just the conversations around them, 30–45 minutes of your time could genuinely shape research that matters for our industry. This is exactly the kind of work that needs practitioner voices in it. What happens when 30+ developers, QAs, and designers spend a day building AI-based mobile apps and testing how far the technology can take them? 🤔 That’s exactly what we explored at a hackathon last Friday in our Copenhagen office. We worked across three tracks: 1. Vibe Coding: Using tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot not just to improve code – but to design and develop as much of the app as possible. 2. LLM AI features in the app: Exploring how tools like Firebase AI Logic and Azure AI Foundry can deliver new features and better user experiences in mobile apps. 3. Edge AI / Local LLMs: Running the LLM directly on the iPhone or Android device. AI continues to amaze – especially in a mobile context. Here are some of the lessons we learned. 👇 💡

Embedl and #HuggingFace in the same box! Embedl is building a hub solution for inference on the edge: https://lnkd.in/deTFut75 AI models running locally on chips other than Nvidia GPUs present an adoption opportunity that can democratize and embed AI in a wide variety of products and solutions. But AI on the Edge comes with its own set of problems - models don't compile (operators aren't supported, quantization doesn't work), or are too slow and memory intensive. The dev tools needed to deal with such problems stitching together Python code with compiled binaries, .so files and runtimes from vendors such as Qualcomm, TI, Hailo, Samsung etc are the real MVPs that will determine the value AI can generate. In the past two years of working at Embedl in this area, I have seen some incredibly cool use of AI at the edge. Excited to see what the future holds and how we can contribute to it. Check out our hub or reach out if you are interested in running AI models locally on the edge. We will also be at #EurIPS in Copenhagen to talk about our research and development in enabling AI at the edge.

We surveyed developers while preparing for our Devoxx presentation, and one finding stood out: developers who actively use AI tools report significantly higher confidence in their professional future. This isn't what I expected. Like many of you, I worried that AI would diminish our value as developers. But the data reveals something different. Developers who engage with AI aren't becoming obsolete. They're evolving toward higher-value work like system design and strategic thinking. Those with the lowest confidence? The ones resisting or ignoring AI entirely. Generative AI is changing our profession whether we like it or not. The question isn't whether to adapt, but how. Avoiding it won't make it disappear. The developers who embrace AI as a tool to orchestrate, rather than a threat to avoid, are the ones building confidence in their future. What's your experience? Are you exploring, integrating, or still resisting? https://lnkd.in/dqAvBa7h #Java #AI #SoftwareDevelopment #CareerGrowth #Devoxx #DeveloperCommunity

Last time I joined Zero-To-Demo, I teamed up with Slavomir Semov and Ayush Rastogi, we had just met at the event. We built an AI healthcare voice agent in a weekend and ended up taking 2nd place 💪🏻 What stayed with me wasn’t the result though. It was how fast things moved when the environment and people are right. Now it’s back. Zero-To-Demo Cohort #2 | April 11–12 | Copenhagen 🇩🇰 Not really a hackathon. More like a focused sprint. - Strong builders in the room - Fast feedback loops - AI tooling that removes friction If you enjoy building and testing ideas quickly, it’s worth it. Big thanks to Matyas Adam Michel, Janik Pöttinger, Clara Reich and everyone else involved in organizing this, it really shows in the experience 👏🏻

🥈 Second place at the Kong Hackathon in Stockholm We built a governance framework that today's companies urgently need when deploying AI safely, without blocking the tools people already use. Our project: Kong Governance Copilot. Turning Kong AI Gateway into the operational layer companies need before they can actually deploy AI to their teams. The premise: every employee already uses an LLM. Most companies have no idea what they send, what they spend, or what data leaks. Banning ChatGPT doesn't work, people just use it on their phones. We need governance on the tools they already prefer. What we built: 🛡️ Three governed surfaces, one policy engine. A sanctioned chat with public/private modes, a Chrome extension that enforces DLP on claude.ai and chatgpt.com, and the Kong AI Gateway for agents and APIs. Same regex pack runs everywhere. 🔐 Public ↔ Private toggle — public mode runs through Kong + OpenAI/Anthropic with DLP, redaction, and audit. Private mode spins up an on-demand Ollama-backed workspace inside our stack, fully air-gapped, for the work that's too sensitive for any third-party LLM. 📚 Per-team RAG without leaks — deterministic PDF ingest, every chunk scanned by our policy engine before it ever touches Kong's ai-rag-injector. The LLM never sees anything that didn't survive the filter. 🤖 Self-auditing agent — an OpenClaw daemon that summarizes audit logs into incident reports and emails them. The agent's own LLM calls go back through Kong, so even the watcher is watched. The whole thing runs as Docker Compose locally, deployed and tested on AWS — same containers, same Kong plugin chain, same audit log shape. Not a hackathon prototype. Massive thanks to my teammate Chetan Singh, to Kong for sponsoring the event, the 2Hero team with Peder Linder and Per Lange for hosting an excellent event, and to Cristian Deaconeasa for bringing the problem and providing great feedback. #Kong #AIGovernance #Hackathon #Stockholm

Your nightly payment batch doesn't need to take 3 hours. Most performance problems come from the same few patterns that keep appearing in financial systems across the Nordics. The good news? They're usually fixable in months, not years. Sharing some of the things I've learned about optimizing legacy .NET payment systems: https://lnkd.in/db3DFZGZ #fintech #banking #payments #dotnet

New episode of the Code Chameleon podcast ✨ https://lnkd.in/eukbZ2P3 The AI revolution is in full swing and it's creating great opportunities in our field and provides lots of speed and value to the software development teams out there. But is it all good? What will the future look like in 5 years? Will there be more or fewer developers out there? And how can we make sure that we do not leave the junior devs behind? In this episode I have a chat with Jesper Jensen from J²-Consult ApS. He is a freelance consultant with a true passion for diving into the deepest rabbit holes and he has some truly interesting insights and opinions.

At Linero Tech AB we often tell our students the same thing: learning programming requires practice. Watching videos or reading blog posts can help you understand concepts, but real learning happens when you write code, debug errors, refactor solutions, write tests, and make mistakes along the way. That is why, over the past few weeks, I worked on a major update to the assignments used in our programs. I increased the number of coding challenges during the first phase of the education by 26%. Previously students completed 198 coding challenges. Now they work through 250 coding challenges during the same period. These new coding challenges cover different levels of difficulty and programming concepts, giving them more opportunities to practice and further develop their skills. The main motivation for this update: - Give students early in the education assignments that reflect problems developers encounter in industry. - Introduce tasks that require combining multiple concepts such as loops, decision-making, collections, nested collections, and nullability. - Encourage students to think about code quality, not only whether the solution works but whether it is clear, structured, and maintainable. - Provide more opportunities for students to practice debugging and refining their solutions rather than solving a problem once and moving on. Below is an example of the new assignments. It is not a one-line problems. It combine multiple concepts, encourage structured thinking, and are designed to resemble the types of challenges developers encounter in real work. I believe this update will push students further and help them strengthen both their programming skills and their developer mindset.

💜 Lovable: 8 months. $100M ARR. Fastest software company in history. Lovable just shattered every growth record in the book, reaching $100M ARR faster than OpenAI, Cursor, Wiz, and every other software company that came before them. The Swedish AI “vibe coding” startup went from zero to centaur status in just 8 months since launch. This isn’t just another unicorn story—it’s a glimpse into how AI is fundamentally reshaping what’s possible in software development. With 2.3 million users and only 45 employees, Lovable is proving that the right AI tools can democratize coding at unprecedented scale. 🚀 Outpaced tech giants like OpenAI and Slack in growth velocity 💡 Turned 2.3 million non-coders into app builders through AI 🔥 Achieved $2.2M ARR per employee with lean 45-person team #AI #Startups #SaaS #TechGrowth #Innovation #Coding #Sweden #Unicorn

It’s finally here! After a lot of work on the DX and internal architecture, the new documentation for Rikta is now live. Rikta is my take on what a modern TypeScript backend should feel like: fast, type-safe by default, and zero-config. Would love for you guys to take a look and roast the docs! #buildinpublic #typescript #developer #opensource

Really excited to see Fortress Fund II take its first steps What I’m especially excited about is the opportunity this creates to back more Swedish deep tech companies and strengthen the ecosystem across the Nordics. This is a fund focused on early-stage companies building in areas like AI & robotics, energy, advanced electronics, and digital infrastructure the kind of ventures that require time, technical depth, and long-term support. What stands out in the approach: → Investing early (Pre-Seed & Seed) → Staying actively involved - not just providing capital, but participating as board members and working closely with the companies → Built on years of experience from creating and scaling deep tech companies If you're building in this space, get in touch :) Knut H. H. Johansen
