Share folder between Macs on same network

In a simplified case where you are sharing only a single folder, you could just enable File Sharing on your Mac, add the target folder to the list of Shared Folders; then select that Folder in the Shared Folders pane; then in the Users pane click the "+" to add your wife to the list of allowed Users (if her Mac is live on the network you should be able to pick her name from the list.)

Search for File Sharing in System Settings and add it to the list of Shared Folders.
