Ralph Haupter hat dies geteiltMy good friend Dhanawat Suthumpun said it best: “Thailand is changing, and AI is happening fast.” You don’t need to be in tech to see it -- the momentum is real in how teams are experimenting, adapting, and scaling AI across their organizations. I’m excited to keynote the Microsoft AI Tour in Bangkok on June 9 and connect with leaders turning that momentum into real business impact. Join us in Bangkok: https://lnkd.in/dm5rVWSF Rachel Bondi Tolgar Elverici #MicrosoftAITour

Ralph Haupter hat dies geteiltMy first Forbes Technology Council piece looks at a growing challenge for SMEs: too many AI experiments, not enough measurable impact. The answer isn’t more tools. It’s better prioritization. SMEs that get this right have a real advantage. Speed matters, but focus matters more. I use a simple effort-versus-impact lens to focus on what actually drives value and avoid spreading efforts too thin. How are you deciding where AI delivers real impact? https://lnkd.in/dmfdKG7z

Ralph Haupter hat dies geteiltDigital sovereignty is becoming a core business priority as organizations look to scale AI on their own terms. At the Microsoft AI Tour in Zurich a few weeks ago, this was a consistent theme: How do we scale AI quickly while retaining control of data, operations, and compliance? How do we build toward innovation without increasing risk? This is where digital sovereignty matters. For SMEs in particular, the ability to operate on secure, local, and trusted infrastructure is what turns ambition into competitiveness. One year on from Microsoft’s European digital commitments, the shift is clear: customers expect both innovation and control — and they are moving faster when they have both. https://lnkd.in/dFjeTWKaOne year on: Progress on our European digital commitmentsOne year on: Progress on our European digital commitments

Ralph Haupter hat dies geteiltALS doesn’t wait. And neither can research. May is ALS Awareness Month. For the estimated 450,000 people living with ALS worldwide, time is everything. Progress toward treatment can’t move at yesterday’s pace. Organizations like ANSWER ALS are changing that. They're using AI to give researchers access to anonymized patient data and samples from one of the world’s largest ALS research hubs. Work that once took 12–18 months can now happen in weeks. This is AI doing what it should do: helping people move faster on what matters most.
-
Ralph Haupter hat dies geteiltOrganizations seeing the most impact from AI are making clear leadership decisions about how it gets adopted and used. The latest Microsoft Work Trend Index shows that culture, manager support, and talent practices drive 67% of AI impact. Only 32% comes down to individual mindset or behavior. For small and midsize businesses, those leadership choices scale quickly across the entire organization. What I’ve learned directly is this: when leaders use the technology themselves, know where it adds value, and share what works, adoption accelerates. We’ve made this a priority inside Microsoft. Teams across my organization are building and using agents to solve real business problems and redesign how work gets done. When one team finds a better way, it scales. That’s how AI moves from an initiative to something people rely on every day, and it starts with leaders setting the example. https://lnkd.in/dJ7s2adw

Ralph Haupter hat dies geteiltSmall businesses move economies forward. They create jobs, drive GDP, and serve our communities. Builders. Problem solvers. People willing to bet on an idea and carry the weight that comes with it. They are the hidden champions. The reality is their work has always been complex, demanding, and close to the edge of change. Now with AI, businesses of all sizes have access to enterprise-grade capabilities to grow and compete. I’m already seeing SMB leaders rethink customer engagement, operations, productivity, and decision-making in real time. And I believe the next wave of growth will be driven by them. If you’re a small business owner or leader in the United States or globally, thank you for what you’re building and the impact you create every day. I’m excited to see what you do next, powered by AI. #NationalSmallBusinessWeek #AITransformation

Ralph Haupter hat dies geteiltGreat to be in Zurich last week, spending time with customers, partners, and leaders. At the Microsoft AI Tour, leaders from across Switzerland came together focused on one thing: turning AI into business impact. The shift from experimentation to execution is accelerating. Swiss leaders are increasingly bullish, not because AI feels optional, but because the direction is set and the pressure to turn AI into advantage is real. These themes came through strongly in our SME&C CxO Connection. A smaller, focused group of Swiss business leaders having direct conversations about execution. What to prioritize. What to stop. And how to scale AI in a way that holds up inside their businesses over time. Another theme continuing to build across Switzerland and the EMEA region is digital sovereignty. Leaders are being deliberate about how and where AI runs, balancing speed with control and trust. That discipline is what allows it to scale with confidence. It was a privilege to close the AI Tour with Philippe Rogge and Monika Rühl and continue this conversation with such a strong group of leaders. Thank you to everyone who contributed to an impactful week in Zurich. We will keep building on this momentum with more conversations focused on what actually works. Because the question now is not what AI could do. It is what we choose to do with it. Ralph Haupter gefällt dasRalph Haupter gefällt dasThe romantic story of Oskar Speck. Who left Germany in 1932, in a folding kayak, not as a famous explorer, but as an unemployed electrical contractor looking for work. His original plan was much smaller than the legend that followed. He intended to paddle from Germany to Cyprus, where he hoped to find a job in the copper mines. But once he reached the Mediterranean, the journey kept pulling him farther east. Over the next seven years, Speck paddled through rivers, coastlines, storms, heat, hunger, and dangerous waters. He traveled through the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and finally toward Australia. By then, the world had changed around him. Germany had gone to war, and a lone German man arriving by kayak was no longer seen simply as an adventurer. He reached Australian territory in September 1939, just after World War II had begun. After one of the most unusual kayak journeys ever recorded, Speck was greeted, congratulated, and then arrested as an enemy alien because he was traveling on a German passport. He spent the war years in internment camps in Australia and was only released after the war ended. Instead of returning to Germany, he stayed in Australia, later working in the opal trade and building a new life there. His journey began as a search for work, but it turned into a seven-year accidental epic across half the world.

🌐 Google Cloud Summit 2025 – Innovation in Action in Düsseldorf 🌐 Yesterday’s summit at RheinRiff was a powerful reminder of how cloud and AI are no longer just buzzwords – they’re driving real transformation across industries. Two customer stories really stood out: 🛒 dm-drogerie markt is using Google Cloud’s AI and analytics to personalize retail experiences and optimize operations. Their approach to supply chain efficiency is a great example of innovation at scale. 🏦 Commerzbank presented their chatbot Bene, built on Google Cloud, as part of their broader digital transformation. 💬 As part of BT, I was especially proud to see how our BT Global Fabric platform is enabling the kind of secure, high-performance connectivity that makes these innovations possible. Our new strategic partnership with Google Cloud is designed to help enterprises connect seamlessly to hyperscalers, accelerate AI adoption, and unlock the full potential of cloud-native architectures. Because let’s face it: AI is only as powerful as the network that supports it. Thanks to all the speakers, organizers, and attendees for the insights and energy. Looking forward to continuing the conversation and helping more businesses build their future in the cloud. 📸 Were you there too? Let’s connect and share takeaways! #GoogleCloudSummit #Düsseldorf #AI #RetailInnovation #CustomerserviceTransformation #dm #ChatbotBene #BT #GlobalFabric #GoogleCloud #CloudConnectivity #DigitalTransformation #Hyperscaler #AIInfrastructure

EDS CIO x CISO Germany https://lnkd.in/d93E5kJ3 Not an AI event. And that’s precisely the point. Looking at the agenda—cloud, data platforms, operating models, talent, cost pressure—you get a pretty accurate picture of what’s actually keeping CIOs busy right now. AI wasn’t the headline. It was the subtext. With Matei Coltan, most conversations circled around a familiar tension: Everyone has something in flight. Very few can point to scaled, repeatable impact. If you believe McKinsey & Company, only ~5% of organizations are seeing real return on their AI investments. Walking the floor, that doesn’t feel off. A few patterns that came up again and again: Strong focus on modern data platforms… but still a gap to actual business process execution Cloud strategies evolving… but cost and complexity creeping in fast Operating models being rethought… but ownership of “AI in production” still blurry. Which brings it back to a simple (and slightly uncomfortable) point: The problem isn’t building AI. It’s deploying it in a way that repeats. If every use case is a custom project, you’re not scaling—you’re experimenting. Our take on this is pretty opinionated: Start with a library of ready-to-deploy agents instead of blank pages Build on value patterns already proven across 160+ clients And embed directly into business processes and systems, not alongside them Less innovation theatre More operational muscle The overall tone of the event reflected that shift well. Less “what’s possible?”—more “what actually runs on Monday?” That’s where it gets interesting. If you’re here for the next sessions, let’s compare notes. #AIThatWorks Druid AI

Starting the journey to #AWS summit Hamburg. This year I will be focusing on understanding #ESC. Amazon Web Services announced the independent European governance structure for its AWS European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a €7.8 billion investment in Brandenburg, Germany, set to launch by the end of 2025 under CEO Kathrin Renz. The cloud will be entirely EU-based with no non-EU dependencies, operated exclusively by EU-resident staff, and will offer the full AWS service portfolio while meeting European digital sovereignty requirements. Is it an ESCape, or safe haven?

One of the insightful talks on Day 2 at #ICNC25 came from Evailable Managing Director Maren Rehnelt, who shared how AI-powered automation is reshaping daily CPO operations and why the gap between OCPP uptime and real availability really matters. ⚡ Smarter monitoring and analytics reduce OpEx and boost efficiency. ⚡ Real availability matters more than uptime – it directly impacts customer experience and profit. ⚡ Results show that with the Evailable solution, uptime improved from 76.2% to 82.2%, and successful charging sessions now exceed 90%. The message is clear: AI-powered automation saves time, cuts costs, and makes CPO operations stronger and more future-proof. Maren Rehnelt, thanks for sharing such valuable data and insights. 🙏

In a world where every company is feeling the pressure to “do something with AI”… 🚨 Don’t start with tools. Start with strategy. My learning of the new podcast episode with Christian Scholz - VP Cloud Business at Arvato Systems and former lead architect behind Google Wallet: It’s a masterclass in tech leadership when the hype is loud and the stakes are high. Christian’s message is clear: “IT follows business - not the other way around.” “If your strategy isn’t clear, AI won’t save you. Cloud won’t save you. Tools won’t save you.” Here’s the reality: 💡 You’re hearing about AI Agents, LLM integrations, and cloud-native transformations. 💡 Your board is asking what your company’s AI play is. 💡 Your teams are building proof-of-concepts - fast. And yet - Christian explains why most of these efforts don’t deliver ROI. Because they start from tech enthusiasm, not from a clear, focused business goal. In this conversation, we unpack: The 5-year journey to make Christian's company a top Microsoft cloud partner - and why it almost failed. Why data sovereignty is no longer just a compliance checkbox - it’s a strategic differentiator. What it really takes to lead 600 people through a full-scale cloud transformation - and still sleep at night. How Christian uses a simple playbook: Know your goal. Know your risks. Build the team who believes. If you’re in Tech navigating AI noise, cloud chaos, or transformation pressure - this episode is for you. 🎧 Listen now on your favourite platform. Building resilient public tech: lessons from ITZBund Thank you, Christine Serrette (Technical Vice Director, ITZBund), for joining Elastic on stage at #CIOdesJahres and sharing a clear, courageous perspective on digital sovereignty in the public sector🙏 Together with my colleague Martin Hacker, Christine showed how ITZBund is shaping Germany’s digital future: building an efficient, durable – and most importantly – independent digital infrastructure. The key takeaways were: Awareness is rising: Organizations are actively reducing dependencies to protect data and strengthen resilience.🛡️ True multi-cloud in practice: ITZBund blends on-prem federal data centers with public and third-party clouds to balance security, transparency, and agility – always with the user in mind. 🔁 The momentum is real: A full room signals sovereignty will matter even more next year. Now is the time to take accountability. At Elastic, we see it every day: Search AI, Observability, and Security are most powerful when they empower people to work more confidently, faster and safer. Christine, thank you again for your candor and leadership – your talk sparked much needed cross-sector dialogue👏 #DigitalSovereignty #MultiCloud #ITZBund #SearchAI #Elastic #CloudStrategy

Really appreciated the timely insights from SAP’s Ralf Hierzegger on how network intelligence and AI can help organizations navigate today’s—and tomorrow’s—geopolitical uncertainty 👉 https://lnkd.in/dyNTydZc What resonated most with me is the shift in mindset. Resilience isn’t about predicting the next disruption, it’s about using real‑time network signals to respond faster and smarter when it happens. In a world of constant volatility, that capability is becoming essential. Well worth a read for anyone thinking seriously about supply chain resilience and ecosystem collaboration. #SAP #NetworkIntelligence #AI #SupplyChain #Resilience #Geopolitics #NetworkIntelligence #ArtificialIntelligence #SupplyChain #Resilience #Geopolitics Cindy McKendry, Doug DeLuca, Öykü Ilgar, Zoriana Zahordnia, Sin To, Hagen Heubach, Dominik Mark Metzger, David Vallejo, Tony Harris Supply Chain Brain SAP Supply Chain Management

💡 Shadow AI isn’t a future risk – it’s already a workplace reality. Across organizations, employees are experimenting with generative AI tools independently. Not because they want to break rules – but because official solutions are missing or approval processes are too slow. The governance gap is real: only 23% of companies have established rules for the use of AI tools, according to a survey commissioned by German Bitkom. The result? Unmanaged AI usage creates risks around data leakage, compliance, and reputation. In my latest article at Security-Insider, I elaborate how organizations can bring Shadow AI under control through governance that enables innovation rather than just blocking it. Key elements include: 👉 Identity as the control layer Strong Identity & Access Management (IAM) ensures least-privilege access for AI tools, plugins, and agents operating across systems. 👉 Centralized AI governance Clear policies, defined responsibilities, and alignment with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR (DSGVO), NIS2 and DORA help organizations manage risk while enabling adoption. 👉 Secure experimentation spaces AI labs and sandboxes allow teams to innovate safely with approved tools and guardrails. 👉 Employee enablement Training, clear prompting guidelines, and transparency build trust and foster responsible AI usage. The goal is not to limit the use of Large Language Models (LLM) which makes daily work more efficient, but to enable the whole company to use them safe and secure. For this, Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM) is key to bring light into the darkness of Shadow AI - the new risk emerging at the horizon. 🔗 Read the full article: Schatten-KI durch Governance beherrschbar machen: https://lnkd.in/daBD_43t Now I’m looking forward to your opinion in the comment section: Has Shadow AI already been named a risk at your company? Feel free to discuss!

🚀 Another brilliant perspective from Sandor Dunkel on the evolving world of planning and finance transformation! What really stands out to me is how rapidly planning is shifting from a slow, batch‑driven process to an intelligent, connected, real‑time capability. The way SAP Analytics Cloud brings together operational data, financial insights, and predictive capabilities is truly reshaping how organizations plan, adapt, and make decisions. We’re no longer just “closing the books”—we’re continuously learning, forecasting, and reacting with agility. This is the kind of transformation that turns planning into a strategic superpower rather than a compliance exercise. Absolutely worth the read for anyone interested in modern FP&A, extended planning, or enterprise transformation. 🙌 #SAPAnalyticsCloud #PlanningTransformation #SAP #FinanceInnovation #FutureOfPlanning #BusinessTransformation 🚀

Go-to-market-ready solutions in weeks. Yes, really. Last week, I judged the first joint AWS-SAP Hack2Build with Marc-Oliver Klein, and Stefan Wellner and Kamal Arora. As part of the AWS SAP AI Co-Innovation Program, ten partners demonstrated solutions built on our joint reference architectures. What they delivered was remarkable. Our partners had weeks, not months, to build these demos. The speed alone was impressive, but the business thinking at the DemoJam was what really caught my attention. Every single partner approached this challenge with go-to-market strategy from day one, and it showed in the quality of what they built. That kind of speed can only happen with the right foundation. The AWS-SAP joint reference architectures gave the partners the foundation to innovate quickly without sacrificing enterprise readiness. With service integrations, secure data flow patterns, and infrastructure already in place, partners could focus on what mattered: building innovations that deliver business value. And collaboration across three layers (AWS infrastructure, SAP's enterprise application expertise, and partner innovation) created something that none of us could build alone. This was just the beginning. In collaboration with AWS, these ten partners will now enter the BUILD phase, where they will complete their solutions and prepare go-to-market assets. We're bringing these innovations to re:Invent2025 in November, and I can't wait to see them come to life. Thank you to our sponsors Kai Mühlbauer, SAP, and Sara Alligood, AWS, for an incredible DemoJam. To meet customer expectations for predictable workload-level price-performance and transparent pricing, we introduced the next generation of OCI Compute Shapes, built on Oracle Acceleron. Oracle Acceleron is OCI’s suite of network software and architecture, designed to help customers run workloads faster and more cost-effectively. The new Acceleron family of compute shapes expands customer choice with shapes designed for different workload needs and reflects how OCI is evolving compute design to better serve modern workloads. Key benefits include: Better workload fit: The new Acceleron shapes use core-to-memory ratios that better match actual workload needs, helping customers improve workload fit, use memory more efficiently, and avoid overprovisioning memory as memory becomes a more important part of workload economics. Higher throughput and faster storage access: Acceleron SmartNIC enables higher throughput with enhanced security properties, along with faster, higher-performance storage access. Transparent pricing: Transparent pricing helps deliver stronger efficiency and clearer price-performance across a broad range of use cases. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dDrD4s-k
