#𝗣𝗙𝗔𝗦 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Many of our customers were actively involved in the public consultation which led to a new proposal to update PFAS regulations. We at #PwC have identified three main takeaways for companies: 1️⃣ 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗙𝗔𝗦 𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 in eight additional sectors, focusing on areas like printing, sealing, machinery, medical devices, military applications, explosives, technical textiles, and broader industrial uses such as solvents and catalysts. 2️⃣ 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 to use room for derogations and apply for exemptions and conditional permissions to continue using PFAS. 3️⃣ 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 when the European Commission will review ECHA's stance on PFAS restrictions in the first half of the year. Start now to interact with relevant internal and external stakeholders. Climate change adaptation & Insurance: Are we ready for the future? 🔍  The climate crisis is no longer a distant scenario - it’s a present-day disruptor. From convective storms to floods and droughts, extreme weather events are hitting harder and more frequently. This is not only a challenge for infrastructure and economies, but also for the insurance industry and the companies that rely on it.  Only 26% of extreme weather losses in Europe are currently insured. The protection gap is growing - and so is the need for action. Insurers must evolve from passive risk carriers to active enablers of adaptation and businesses must integrate climate risk into their core strategies. What's next for #ESG reporting post the #Omnibus proposal announcement and how are companies responding to changes? A survey of over 100 companies by #KPMG, led by my colleague Katharina Gädeke, has shown that: - 88% of companies are not stopping their CSRD ESRS implementation efforts; and - 56% of companies are electing to use either ESRS or VSME as the standard of choice when pursuing voluntary reporting. ESG reporting will continue to be a priority for many organisations. Our advice? - Re-evaluate your reporting strategy to clarify next steps for your business; - Establish your baseline ESG performance metrics (e.g. using VSME as a guide for minimum disclosure expectations); and - Focus on the "no-regret" actions such as scope 3 GHG emissions measurement, climate risk and scenario analysis, development of transition plans, and improvements on data integrity through processes, controls and technology enablement.

The next chapter of Made in Germany begins with #DeepTech. Yesterday in Berlin, we presented our new #BCG study together with the BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. on how Germany can secure a leading position in future technologies and boost its competitiveness. The message is clear: the future doesn’t wait. It starts now. Our study shows the immense scale of the opportunity: By 2030, Deep Tech could create €8 trillion in value worldwide. Yet less than 10% of global Deep Tech unicorns are European today, and around half of late-stage funding comes from outside the EU. We need to take huge steps in order to keep up with the US and China in this highly competitive race.
