This morning, Sky Group and RTL Group have announced a definitive agreement for RTL to acquire Sky Deutschland.    As two of the most recognisable media brands in the region, Sky and RTL will create a future-ready entertainment business across news, sport and entertainment, reaching around 11.5 million paying subscribers from day one.    This is fantastic news for customers who will enjoy a broader and more compelling range of German-language content across RTL+, Sky, WOW and RTL’s free-to-air channels.    Our teams in Sky Deutschland GmbH have driven significant progress over the past three years, with strong operational performance and reaching a record number of customers. Combining the strength of Sky with RTL builds on that momentum, delivering the right scale for Sky Deutschland to continue to compete in a global marketplace and drive future growth.    The transaction is subject to regulatory approval, expected in 2026.    More details here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eXNGDp_m

At Lufthansa Innovation Hub, we build solutions that unlock new value pools for Lufthansa Group and the broader market. While some ventures are spun off into independent startups or continued within the Hub, others—like Uptrip—are handed over to a different unit within the Group. With Uptrip now transitioning to Miles & More GmbH, we’re celebrating our first successful spin-in. 💪 What is Uptrip? The Uptrip app is our innovative approach to integrating Web3 technologies into loyalty programs, tapping into the power of gamification to create a unique collecting experience. Passengers of Lufthansa Group airlines can scan their boarding passes in the app to receive NFT trading cards, combine them into collections, and redeem them for rewards such as lounge access at the airport or free in-flight WiFi. 🛩️ The story behind Uptrip Launched in spring 2023, Uptrip was developed at Lufthansa Innovation Hub in close collaboration with Miles & More GmbH, following our proven innovation process from idea to MVP and beyond. The result? 🏆 A clear success: over 192,000 users and more than 2,500,000  trading cards issued to date. This momentum is expected to continue, with significant user growth projected for the rest of the year. The impact spoke for itself: Miles & More GmbH decided to acquire and fully integrate Uptrip into their loyalty program—an ideal next step. While LIH led the incubation and launch of the product, bringing speed, agility, and venture-building expertise, Miles & More GmbH contributed deep loyalty know-how, strong industry ties, and access to a broad and loyal customer base. What’s next? Uptrip is ready for its next phase. Miles & More GmbH fully takes the lead—bringing in even more energy, scale, and reach.
