🇯🇵 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻! And while not quite as literally as for our General Manager Alain Dr. Pfouga – who is currently in the Land of the Rising Sun himself – our prostep ivip Board Member Philipp Wibbing and Fabienne Kreusch (Marketing & Event Management) found Japan a little closer to home: in 𝐃ü𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐟, the city in Germany that comes closest to Japanese culture and home to the largest Japanese community in Europe. The occasion? The 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗮𝘆 (Japanischer Wirtschaftstag), presented by Wirtschaftsförderung Düsseldorf – one of many highlights of this vibrant community, where prostep ivip Association was proud to be represented with a booth in the exhibition. Because nothing beats real connections and genuine networking. A heartfelt thank you to Juliane Neu and Benjamin Leonhardt and their team for the outstanding organization of the event. 🙏 We were especially honored by the explicit mention in the welcoming address of Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller, who – in front of ~200 participants – pointed to the 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗽 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺, taking place on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟰-𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳, in Düsseldorf. (デュッセルドルフ日本商工会議所) – alongside many other thought-provoking speakers. One special detail stayed with us: the claims on the presentation slides of Japanese companies. Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH – 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. Mitsubishi Electric Europe - German Branch – 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. These are more than marketing statements. From everything we've experienced working with Japanese members of our association, these words reflect a deep sense of reliability and responsibility – a commitment to thinking not only economically, but future-orientedly, with people and nature at the heart of it. 🟢 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐒𝐃𝐕 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞!  At the prostep ivip cSDV kick-off workshop, OEMs, suppliers, engineering partners and tool vendors discussed what this means for software updates, homologation and cross-company collaboration. ☝ The goal of this first session was not to define final answers, but to collect initial challenges, align perspectives, and identify where cross-company collaboration within SDV is most urgently needed. ➡️ One thing has become clear: to enable software updates and ongoing approval across organisational boundaries, more than just isolated process improvements are needed. What is required are shared data models, traceability, trusted digital communication and new ways of integrating compliance into software delivery. Six initial challenge areas emerged: ▪️ Lifecycle & business model shift after SOP ▪️ Regulation interpretation & market complexity ▪️ E2E traceability & compliance impact analysis ▪️ Vehicle configuration, variant & fleet data transparency ▪️ Continuous homologation & DevOps integration ▪️ Architecture, standards & toolchain scalability ✨ This is the starting point. Over the next months, the working group will sharpen these topics into concrete work packages: from digital collaboration and compliance state to end-to-end traceability and tool vendor enablement. ✨ The key question remains: ❓ "How can the industry facilitate software updates relevant to type approval across companies — reliably, securely and in compliance with regulations?" 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 — 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. Yesterday, prostep ivip Association hosted a board-level delegation from Toshiba Corporation at our new offices in Darmstadt. An afternoon of substantive dialogue on the future of #QuantumComputing — and a reflection of a partnership that has grown quietly but firmly over the years. On the Toshiba side, the delegation was led by CEO Taro Shimada, joined by Kei Hirata, President & CEO of Toshiba Europe, alongside 荒木大 Araki and Dirk V. Vogt from Strategic Planning at Toshiba Europe. Takao Senko represented Honda. The prostep ivip Board was represented by Jens Poggenburg, Philipp Wibbing, and Tomohiko Adachi — the latter also joining in his capacity as Supreme Principal Engineer at Mazda Motor Corporation. From the prostep ivip Association office, General Manager Alain Dr. Pfouga, Technical Program Manager Nora Tazir, and Marketing Manager Fabienne Kreusch completed the group. The relationship with Toshiba is not a new one. It deepened when the prostep ivip board visited Toshiba's former headquarters at Tokyo Bay in November 2024 — a visit that laid the groundwork for the kind of open, trust-based exchange we experienced again yesterday. As early as 2024, we captured a conversation between Shimada-san and Mazda board member Tomohiko Adachi as part of our Push to Future series — touching on quantum computing long before the topic reached its current momentum. For companies, the implication is clear: the time to engage is now, not once the shift has already happened. After an intensive afternoon, the conversation continued over the evening at the Bräustübl in Darmstadt — where the best exchanges often find their natural conclusion.
