Travel discovery is evolving. Increasingly, travellers aren’t just choosing where to go, they’re choosing destinations based on how easily they can keep exploring once they arrive. New insights from our sister brand Rome2Rio show how mobility visibility is reshaping travel behaviour: 🚆 More travellers are choosing rail for shorter journeys 🌍 Multi-stop itineraries are becoming the norm 🔎 Transportation options are increasingly influencing destination choice What stands out most is the growing importance of connected journeys. When people can easily compare trains, buses, ferries, and flights in one place, they expand their plans beyond a single city - unlocking more regional exploration and opening up opportunities for secondary destinations. This is especially visible around major events, where fans are increasingly extending trips and relying on surface transport to move more easily across regions. At Omio, we see this shift every day: travellers want flexibility, transparency, and confidence across every step of the journey. Europe is moving closer to making cross-border travel simpler. This week, the EU Passenger Package proposed new rules on ticket data sharing and distribution access, making it easier for travellers to compare journeys and purchase tickets across operators. The proposal marks an important step toward a more connected rail ecosystem, where travel feels seamless rather than fragmented. At Omio, we see every day how valuable it is for travellers to access and combine travel options easily across different operators and modes. Our Director of Public Affairs Catriona Meehan shared why this proposal could represent a significant shift for rail distribution in Europe, and why its success will depend on fair, non-discriminatory access to fares and data. That access will help drive consumer choice, enable stronger competition, and ensure continued innovation across the sector. We’re pleased to see her insights featured in outlets including Financial Times, AFP FRANCE 24 and LinkedIn News, alongside some of the most influential voices in European transport, rail, and policy. #Mobility #Rail #TravelTech

Prague, reimagined This month, we reopened our Prague office: redesigned, expanded, and ready for what’s next. Since opening in 2017, Prague has grown into a core tech hub for Omio. Today, more than 60 colleagues work there, building the systems that power our platform and enable seamless travel for millions of travellers worldwide. The reopening was everything it should be. Great food, karaoke that got progressively louder, and an AI photo booth capturing moments we may or may not share publicly. A special thanks to the team on the ground, and to leaders including Tomas Vocetka, Vlastimil Šenfeld, Friedrich Politz, and Barbora Rabinakova for shaping the culture and growth of this office over the years. With more space, a ton of energy, and a growing team, Prague continues to be a place where ideas turn into impact. And yes, if this sounds like your kind of place, we’re hiring Engineers in Prague. Reach out to Zuzana Brozova if you’re interested.

Our Director of Public Affairs, Catriona, joined the UK Rail Summit to discuss what the future of the UK rail network should look like. As Great British Rail takes shape, the opportunity for Britain is clear: to build a system that’s not just integrated, but easy to access, easy to understand, and easy to choose. Key takeaways from Cat’s address: 1️⃣ The passenger experience needs to keep pace with structural reform - or the benefits won't be felt where they matter. 2️⃣ Competition drives innovation. Where access is open and platforms compete, innovation accelerates and demand grows. Where it’s constrained, it doesn’t. 3️⃣ Rail can't exist in isolation. Travellers should have the ability to see and book rail alongside other transport options. At Omio, we are committed to helping deliver a transport network where the booking experience is as seamless as the journey itself. #RailIndustry #UKRail #Policy #Innovation #RailSummit
Most of the conversation at the Rail Summit last Friday was about operations. Much less on how the railway actually shows up for people using it. As GBR takes shape, we’re moving towards a more integrated system. But integration on the supply side isn’t enough. If the customer experience doesn’t keep pace, the benefits will be harder to realise. We’ve seen this play out across Europe. Where access is open and platforms compete, innovation accelerates and demand grows. Where it’s constrained, it doesn’t. The difference isn’t infrastructure. It’s how the system is accessed. The opportunity for Britain is clear: build a system that’s not just integrated, but easy to access, easy to understand, and easy to choose. That’s where the difference is made. - Good to be there last Friday. Thanks to Grant Poulton for organising, Anthony Smith for representing Independent Rail Retailers, and James Noon for bringing Omio’s product perspective.

At Omio, we help people find the best way to go from anywhere to anywhere. For years, our customers began with a search. Now, in the age of AI, they are starting with a question and receiving an intelligent answer back. That is why Omio has today launched its inventory directly inside ChatGPT. For the first time, our customers can ask the same questions they would pose to a travel agent, and receive bookable multimodal travel options from Omio’s 3000+ transport providers, in seconds. It's a step towards building the infrastructure that will shape how billions of journeys are discovered and booked, both now and in the future. And for our partner network, it means instant exposure to ChatGPT’s hundreds of millions of global users whether they are local or national operators. Thank you to CNBC, Bloomberg, and Euronews for taking the time to speak to our CEO Naren Shaam about why this launch marks a key milestone in our ambition to become an AI native platform.
