Crewe Cup Eye Center
Crewe Cup provided 100% of required funding to create the Crewe Cup Eye Center in Iquitos, Peru in July of 2024. The center was formed in partnership with Charity Vision International to give advanced, surgical eye care to underprivileged people of the Amazon Basin. The clinic was endowed with state-of-the-art equipment, including Optical Coherence Tomography and an Argon Laser.
The center is largely self-sustaining with many of the patients paying for their services, allowing others without means to access desperately needed surgical eye care at no cost.
Iquitos, Peru is located in the northernmost region of Peru on the Amazon River. It is the largest city in the world with no road access and requires a five-day journey by boat on the Amazon River or can be reached by plane. Until now, there has not been any advanced surgical eye clinic available to the people of Iquitos.
