The Value of a CRE Certification

Recently I participated in an ASQ CRE focus group with a few of our peers. The ASQ facilitator prompted each of use to answer a few questions. Then she asked each of us to contribute to a “Start, Stop, Change” exercise focused on the CRE exam.

It appears ASQ is starting another round of reviews and possible updates to the CRE Body of Knowledge and exam process. That is good. Continue reading

Recently a colleague sent me a published copy of the first CRE exam. Scanning through the document suggests that a few things have change and many have not changed at all. I’ve learned a lot in my career and have attempted to help others to the best of my ability. Teaching is fun. It is also enjoyable to know a little of what I’ve learned from others may continue to be passed along.

The CRE exam is a milestone in a reliability engineers career. Not an end, nor a beginning, just a milestone to mark the achievement. The CRE BOK encompasses a broad range of concepts and tools. Passing the exam marks the person as having mastered the body of knowledge as laid out in the CRE BOK. Continue reading
