On 6 October 2025, the EU and Denmark co-organised a Senior officials meeting (SOM) on the Sahel and Lake Chad. The objective of the meeting, which was held in hybrid format from Dakar (Senegal) and hosted 164 participants.

The two sides took the opportunity to discuss the implementation of the Horizon Europe Association Agreement, including measures to enhance the participation and success rate of Armenian entities through a more effective use of funding opportunities available under Horizon Europe.

The Commission presented its 2026 work programme, detailing actions to foster a more sovereign and independent Europe. The programme tackles current and future challenges, from geopolitical tensions to economic risks and climate change, and pays special attention to security risks facing the Union.

The Commission is reviewing the current mandate of Europol. The public consultation aims to gather insights from public authorities as well as private stakeholders, such as members of the public, academia, NGOs, and private companies. The call is open for feedback until 15 January 2026.

On 29-30 November, the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) participated in the 8th edition of the Paris Peace Forum (PPF), where it underscored the European Union’s dedication to building resilience against evolving digital challenges and advancing support for Ukraine.
Changes were introduced to the procedure for temporary residence for business purposes in Slovakia. Meanwhile, EU-funded project JUSTMIG report on migrant temporary workers in Slovakia is out and another publication gives an overview of how the migration landscape has evolved since 2004.

The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) led a large-scale joint customs operation conducted by the customs administrations of 40 partner countries in Asia and Europe under the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), with the support of the World Customs Organization (WCO).
