When I started at Christie's in Australia many years ago, one of my tasks in that small office included putting the recycling bins out for collection each week. But that was about all we did then when it came to caring for our environment….and now providing that care is one of the most important parts of my job. Since 2021, we have been working hard across the company to reduce our impact on the planet and be a responsible leader in the art market. We are the only major auction house taking such a stance and we are proud supporters of the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC). Our sustainability program has three ever-present goals: We COMMIT to carbon emission reduction targets, validated by Science Based Targets initiative We COMMUNICATE openly and transparently about our progress - https://lnkd.in/eWavH-xk We COLLABORATE with suppliers and partners from across the industry in support of collective action The program was initiated by our former CEO (now Chairman) Guillaume Cerutti and it continues to be supported by our current CEO, Bonnie Brennan. While they lead from the top with encouragement from our shareholder, everyone at Christie’s plays their role and shares in our progress. It’s a privilege for me to be Head of Sustainability at Christie’s and this video showcases some of our work. While what we do is more wide-ranging these days, it is still true that those recycling bins won’t empty themselves… Thank you to my colleagues for their support and hard work: Ben Gore Nick Sims Julien Pradels Anthea Peers Emily Klug Caroline Maxwell Rosalind Patient Tom Johnson Maria Busa Elise Mathieu Fabian Guignard Audrey Lee Janet Tung Emma Cunningham Kate Chapman (Ferguson) Aiyana O’Grady Antonia (Toni) Fitzgerald Nathan Spooner Michalis Livesey Nell Plumfield Rebecca Roundtree Lavinia (Yufei) Zhao Alexandra Vidgeon Danlin (Miranda) Yu Charlotte Rutter Gillian Gorman Round

For 260 years, the Christie's rostrum has been a symbol of our commitment to exceptional art and objects. Originally designed by Thomas Chippendale for James Christie in the 1700s, it has witnessed countless astonishing moments. With each strike of the gavel, it stewards culture, beauty and history forward. And as we look to the future, it takes on a new form that will carry on the legacy begun centuries ago. For this evolution, we sought the skills of Jony Ive and his creative collective LoveFrom. Much like Chippendale, Ive has left an indelible mark on the world through his creativity and work, changing the way we live. Crafted with sustainable wood from the same forests that helped restore Notré Dame, this new rostrum will stand at the heart of Christie's, honour our past while embracing what's to come.
