I attended the Nervtek Girls Tech Camp for the second time, and honestly I questioned that decision at first. Hadn’t I already learned enough? Was there really anything new to gain?
It turns out—there was a lot.
First, let’s talk about how welcoming the Nervtek team is👏🏽. I think I speak for all the participants when I say NOBODY FELT OUT OF PLACE. We were walked through the process with patience. The team made everyone feel welcome and created a very conducive environment for learning, which I don’t get to see very often.
Now, real talk😅.
As someone passionate about design, I realized I had been doing what designers do, but not truly thinking like one.
The bootcamp didn’t just teach tools, it challenged my assumptions about what a designer should do. By day 3, I had a reality check: I wasn’t as far along as I thought.
It also enhanced my ability to work in a team which wasn’t very easy for me, because everyone has their own opinion about how the outcome should look like. But I learned that shared perspective is important to achieve the best possible results.
My key takeaway from this bootcamp:
📌 A designer is not defined by the tools they use, but by how they think throughout the design process.
Your thought process matters if you truly want to be a problem solver.
I’m grateful to Nervtek and Nervtek Education for creating a space that empowers young women with real, practical skills.
A big thank you to our trainers Sir Arnold Sigala , Sir Njita Arnaud , Sir Chung Ndansak . The knowledge you shared is truly invaluable and would definitely last a lifetime. And to Miss Asobo Joyce Megvie for putting this bootcamp together and keeping us engaged and motivated throughout.
