Après 3 années de dialogues pragmatiques, les parties prenantes de BIODEV2030 PHASE 2, se sont réunis à Mbankomo ce 29 mai 2026, pour faire le point sur les résultats et les enseignements de cette initiative au Cameroun. Cette rencontre, qui a rassemblé le Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Protection de la Nature et du Développement Durable, plusieurs ministères sectoriels, l’Agence Française de Développement (AFD), WWF Cameroon ainsi qu’un large éventail d’acteurs publics, privés et de la société civile, a permis de mettre en lumière des avancées concrètes en faveur de l’intégration de la biodiversité dans les politiques publiques et les pratiques productives. Parmi les acquis présentés figurent notamment le renforcement du dialogue multi-acteurs, l’identification et l’intégration d’Instruments de Politiques Publiques Sectorielles (IPPS) dans la Stratégie et Plan d’Action National pour la Biodiversité (SPANB 3), l’élaboration d’un guide technique pour les Plans de Gestion de la Biodiversité, ainsi que le développement d’une proposition de projet territorial accompagnée de son étude de faisabilité. While traveling along the Sangha River from the Central African Republic to Cameroon, a team from the Lobeke National Park witnessed a captivating moment: an elephant crossing the river from one country boundary to another. It was a reminder that rivers and political borders are not barriers to wildlife movement. Forest elephants move freely across the transboundary landscapes of the Congo Basin, following ancient ecological routes that existed long before human borders were drawn. Protecting elephants, therefore, requires strong cross-border collaboration between countries, conservation actors, and local communities to ensure these shared populations continue to thrive.💚 #Biodiversity #WWFCameroon

À l’occasion de la Journée mondiale de la biodiversité 2026, organisée par le Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Protection de la Nature et du Développement Durable (MINEPDED) autour du thème « Des actions locales à l’impact mondial », des institutions, des partenaires, des organisations de la société civile et des citoyens se sont mobilisés pour échanger sur les défis et les opportunités liés à la préservation de la biodiversité. À travers une conférence ainsi que divers espaces d’exposition, cette journée a offert une plateforme d’échanges permettant aux acteurs de faire le point sur leurs initiatives communes et d’identifier des perspectives pour renforcer la synergie d’action en faveur de la vie sur Terre et du bien-être humain. Engagé aux côtés des autres acteurs, WWF Cameroun a pris une part active à cette mobilisation collective en animant un stand de sensibilisation et en partageant avec le public ses actions en faveur de la conservation de la biodiversité. The WWF Kudu Zombo Program, in collaboration with its partner BASSPROTOMAR, recently guided 113 newly hatched marine turtles back to their natural sea habitat along the southern coast of Cameroon. This activity is part of ongoing efforts to protect endangered marine turtle species and conserve coastal biodiversity in the Campo Ma’an landscape. Marine turtles play a vital role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems, but they continue to face threats such as habitat destruction, illegal harvesting, pollution, and climate change. Through regular beach monitoring, nest protection, community awareness, and safe hatchling release activities, WWF Cameroon and its partners are working closely with local communities to ensure the survival of these vulnerable species. #MarineTurtleConservation #ProtectOurOceans #CoastalConservation #MarineBiodiversity
