🚀 Building automation software company viboo has successfully closed its second financing round, raising €3.3 million. The round was led by Realyze Ventures, with participation from Zürcher Kantonalbank, existing investors HTGF and Swisscom Ventures, and new investors. 🏘️⚙️ The investment by leading PropTech VC Realyze Ventures underscores confidence in viboo’s potential to make buildings more energy efficient without major interventions, achieve significant energy savings, and accelerate the decarbonization of existing building stock. 💶 The fresh funding will be used to expand into the German market, where strong demand is being driven by the Building Energy Act (GEG). Spencer Stuart Switzerland this week hosted its annual Leadership Forum at the iconic Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich with speakers Claudius A. Hildebrand and Antje Kanngiesser, CEO of Alpiq. We were delighted to host a select group of 45 CEOs, entrepreneurs and board members who heard a compelling keynote by Claudius, co-author of The Life Cycle of a CEO. He was joined on stage by Antje Kanngiesser, CEO of Alpiq, who was recently named ‘Entrepreneur/CEO of the year’ by the Swiss Economic Forum. Sigrid Artho, who leads the business for Spencer Stuart in Switzerland, moderated a lively panel discussion on the critical factors that define leadership performance today, followed by Q&A from a highly engaged audience. The event concluded with a networking session where attendees shared their reflections on the Forum’s themes and connected with peers over dinner. Many participants remarked on the relevance of the discussions, noting how the insights offered could be applied across industries to enhance leadership effectiveness and innovation. The CEO Life Cycle book helps leaders to anticipate the evolving challenges of the CEO role and prepare for them. It helps CEOs recognize when they are heading into a new stage of their tenure and stay vigilant about avoiding common pitfalls made in that stage. We had a great session today with the Swiss Startup Association in Zurich, together with Brigitte Baumann Gervais, on How to Look Investable Before You Even Pitch! The entrepreneurs who joined were truly inspiring — engaged, curious, and eager to strengthen their governance practices. Among the many topics we covered, one key discussion focused on how to build the right board — a critical step for any startup aiming to grow and attract investors. Choosing board members is one of the most strategic decisions a startup can make. It’s not about filling seats — it’s about shaping the future. So what should you do? Define the purpose – Start with clarity. What should your board help achieve? An exit, rapid growth, M&A, or stable dividends? A clear direction ensures you attract people with the right mindset and expertise. Assess what is missing – Use a skills and experience matrix to map what you have versus what you need. Look beyond the pure technical skills — consider experience in the phase of your company. Take time before selecting – Don’t rush. Form a nomination committee, seek independent or professional support, and design a transparent, structured process. The right board composition takes time — and pays off. Recruit with rigor – Interview thoroughly, check references, and ensure alignment with the company’s purpose, culture, and stage of growth. A misaligned board member can slow or even derail progress. Invest in the board – Once appointed, onboard members properly. Create space for alignment, trust, and shared understanding. Formalize – Elect board members through the proper process at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), then update the Commercial Register accordingly. Ensure that organizational rules are aligned and that roles, duties, and liabilities are clearly documented. Clear governance is the foundation of an effective board.
