As a Team Lead, he put together a team that was falling apart and started to deliver, managed the expectations, defined the architecture, and led his team to a set of successful deliveries, which happened consistently since the first month on his position, each time with increased quality.
In 2019 he took the position of Head of Software Development, becoming responsible for 5 teams of 35 engineers. And inherited an interesting set of delays, in issues and deliveries. Unmotivated teams focused in single-player mode with a defensive/self-protection attitude.
He changed that!
He motivated and led the teams into a collaborative working model and team player attitude, he set the right focus in regards to delivery and issue resolution. Put together interdisciplinary teams and pushed them to collaborate in facing issues, which greatly accelerated the resolution. In addition, he aligned the teams and departments with clear communication and escalated issues to provide needed support for employees that were alone trying to face issues far away from their area of expertise, with delays and stress due to this. In a single week, an engineer in this situation was joined by two different experts, and a solution was found. He also single-handedly provided key technical solutions for a surveillance system issue that had performance and communication problems, identifying the real issue replacing it with another software component.
He added a much-needed focus and put the 5 full teams to work together, coordinated and motivated.
In a short time, he added great value and reconducted issues that seemed lost and recovered our trust in the engineering department. He did so by proper leading by example, good communication, and a set of good decisions and actions, one after another.
It was a pleasure working with him, he got my trust in a very short time.
