Geely Monjaro i-HEV traditional hybrid SUV launches in China, 4.75 L/100 fuel consumption
The Geely Monjaro i-HEV traditional hybrid SUV was launched in China with a fuel consumption of 4.75 liters per 100 km and a zero-to-hundred acceleration time in 8.3 seconds. The entry-level price of the Geely model is 145,700 yuan (21,310 USD) before discounts.
Geely Monjaro was launched in China under the Xingyue L name in 2021 as a petrol-powered mid-size crossover underpinned by the CMA modular architecture, similar to the Volvo XC40. During the life cycle, the Monjaro had a PHEV variant available in the short term. According to China EV DataTracker, Geely delivered 46,899 units of the Monjaro crossover.

On April 29, Geely introduced the Monjaro with a traditional hybrid powertrain to the domestic market. It adopts a recently released i-HEV technology that comprises an ICE paired with an integrated 1-speed DHT transmission and an electric motor. This system is self-charging via a petrol engine and recuperation. It has a small battery that doesn’t allow cars to drive electrically for sufficient distances.
It is worth noting that the HEV technology has already turned into the main trend of 2026 among Chinese automakers, with Chery, Changan, and GWM also introducing their models to the segment. This transition is caused by the gradual phasing out of the governmental subsidies towards the PHEV and BEV segments.
More about the Geely Monjaro i-HEV
The Geely Monjaro i-HEV retains the distinguishing design language of the petrol-powered model launched five years ago. It has a sizeable chrome-plated grille, rectangular headlights, and a single taillight unit. However, this version could be distinguished by a new silver body color and unique wheels with aerodynamic covers.

Exact dimensions of the Geely Monjaro i-HEV are 4795/1895/1689 mm with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. The car rides on R19 and R20 wheel options. The cabin has five seats inside. The center console adopts the common three-screen layout with two 14.6-inch touchscreens and a 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster. The car also offers a 25.6-inch head-up display.
Other highlights of the Geely Monjaro i-HEV include a 50W wireless phone charging pad, a sunroof, heated, ventilated, and massaged front seats, and 16 speakers. It also adopts the G-Pilot H3 assisted driving system capable of the Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) function on highways. It consists of 12 ultrasonic sensors, 3 mm-wave radars, and 11 cameras.
However, the biggest highlight of the Monjaro i-HEV is its powertrain. This SUV has a 1.5-liter turbocharged in-line four-cylinder for 120 kW (161 hp) with a thermal efficiency of 48.4%. It is paired with two e-motors. The first is P1 directly placed on the crankshaft of the ICE, replacing the alternator. The second electric motor is connected to the wheels, producing 175 kW (228 hp). The Monjaro i-HEV is available with FWD only.

The Geely Monjaro i-HEV can reportedly drive with the ICE turned off for up to 66 km/h. The car speeds up to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. The top speed reaches 180 km/h. However, the biggest highlight of the Monjaro i-HEV is a fuel efficiency of 4.75 liters per 100 km under WLTC conditions. The Geely Monjaro i-HEV became available for purchase in China with a price range of 145,700 – 159,700 yuan (21,010 – 23,355 USD).
