What a FUN and action-packed start to our summer research season! 🚣♀️🧪 Super proud of my team and everything already happening (AMAZE AMAZE!): (1) Robyn Woodrow officially kicked off her #dairywastewater project; (2) Mackenzie Rosebrugh is full speed ahead getting all her #stormwater field and lab work rolling; (3) Melissa Bennett FINALLY got her pesticide model to work (a major win!); (4) Jingya Pang has been an absolute busy bee in the lab with our bauxite residue project; (5) Janice Okun is diving into exciting Canadian wastewater pharmaceutical datasets in preparation for her machine learning work; and (6) Emily L. Quecke launched her amazing “Water Warriors” camp and research at Frog Lake FN! 💧 One of the best parts of being a supervisor is doing whatever it takes to help students get their projects off the ground… even if that means 6 h of #canoeing just to collect water samples and getting messy with liquid manure! 😅🚣♂️ Now that’s fieldwork. So lucky to have wonderful #collaborators and research support team Qianyang Wang, Daniela Pulgarin Zapata! Heading to #x2026 and #IWAMicropol to network and showcase this amazing work.

A water-based formulation developed at the University of Waterloo using nanotechnology is both greener and more effective than conventional methods for delivering agricultural pesticides. The new solution dramatically improves how pesticides stick to plant leaves – even in wind and rain – minimizing splash and runoff that contribute to costly waste and environmental contamination. “With our new formulation, the pesticide is dispersed in water,” said Dr. Michael Tam, a chemical engineering professor at Waterloo. “We are spraying water, not solvent, making this approach well aligned with sustainable agriculture goals.” More: https://lnkd.in/eeWdsHrD | #UWaterlooNews
