At the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub, we accelerate innovative solutions that improve care for patients — but we didn’t expect to see one of those innovations make its way onto a major television drama. This Thursday, Ring Rescue Inc., a Nova Scotia–grown medical device company, will be featured on Season 2, Episode 10 of The Pitt. Born out of collaboration between Dalhousie University engineers and a frontline emergency physician at Dartmouth General Hospital, Ring Rescue is a powerful example of what happens when clinical insight meets engineering ingenuity. Their solution tackles a surprisingly common medical problem — ring entrapment. Today, Ring Rescue is used in more than 2,000 hospitals, EMS agencies, and fire-rescue teams across North America. Now, their innovation is stepping onto a global stage. We’re incredibly proud of the Ring Rescue team and thrilled to have played a role in their success. Today, we announced an investment of nearly $7M for Creative Destruction Lab and to advance made in Canada defence technologies. As part of this strategy, the Regional Defence Investment Initiative (RDII) is being delivered nationally by the regional development agencies to support the growth and integration of businesses into domestic and international defence supply chains, and increase their industrial and innovation capacity.
