More great news for Calgary's tech ecosystem. We are thrilled to welcome HCLTech – Canada, a global IT consulting and services giant, into the community! In a recent conversation with Chris Varcoe, Dave Chopra shares that investing in Calgary was a "no-brainer" and that "Western Canada is a market of its own." We couldn't agree more - and here's some numbers to back it up: 📈 Talent Growth: Calgary has the highest growth rate in tech talent (61%) of any major city in North America. 🧑‍💻 New Jobs: 24,500 new tech jobs added since 2021 - more than Boston, Seattle, Chicago combined. 🚀 Workforce Size: 64,000+ Calgarians work in tech today Calgary has gotten to this point for a variety of reasons:  🏫 Growing local talent through world-class post secondary institutions. 🔧 Reskilling and supporting talent from legacy sectors. 🌍 Attracting global talent that want to pursue opportunities in Calgary. That last point is particularly interesting when we look at how political attitudes are changing south of the border. While the U.S. puts barriers on highly-skilled H-1B visa holders, the Canadian government is creating an accelerated pathway to attract this world-class technical talent. And that is good news for Calgary's tech sector according to Jennifer Lussier, "with all the changes in the US, Canada is a highly attractive place to shift to.
